We had a party of 10 and everything was wonderful! Witnessing in the animals, visiting the gift shop, trying the various rums and enjoying dinner! Beautiful roses! We will definitely be back! Our server, I think Haley was amazing! Thank you for the hospitality and the setting is a beautiful place! So much fun to be had by everyone!
My daughter recently had her wedding at the winery. Everything was beautiful from the setting, to the cottages, to the reception venue. What a lovely place! I highly recommend for an event or just a weekend getaway.
Cape Fear Vineyard was listed as one of the places to visit while being in the area. My husband and I walked into what we thought was the tasting room/winery part and were told it was going to be 20 min wait. I then asked if the wait was for the restaurant or winery, we were then informed that the area was the restaurant and that the winery was around back. We got back in the car and headed towards the back of the building, we then walked into another entrance for sure thinking it was the tasting room, but we were told it was closed and there were people setting up for an event. At this point my husband and I gave up and left. Maybe one day we’ll get to try the wine but not today.

Walkability: Very good

Nearby activities: Went with my wife for the Valentine’s Day dinner, if it weren’t for one key thing they would have gotten a far better review. Their poor food handling practices led to me becoming violently ill before dessert. It wasn’t food poisoning or seafood contamination, it was allowing a sick person to handle food. I noticed the asparagus was extremely bitter and just a couple minutes later was sick, violently sick. I didn’t even make it a mile from the place before vomiting profusely. The food served was served lukewarm and had an airline meal feel to it leading me to honestly believe the food was pre prepared and left sitting for some time, allowing contamination. My wife fell ill the very next day. I understand a fine dining experience for 140 is a steal but I would have paid far more for better quality food and handling practices. I also wonder who else got sick that night. In any event I will no longer visit the winery, or buy any more of their products and will certainly not recommend or promote any of their products as I have in the past. Ruining a romantic evening for your customers isn’t a good business practice, do better!!!!!!!
I would never recommend anyone to get married here.We paid for food drinks and other services and didn’t get what we paid for.My husband and I did a tasting before our wedding.Food we tasted was good.On our wedding day guest was complaining of uncooked food. hors d’oeuvres went out to our guest without sauce.Upon asking Derrick about it.He said he forgot and would let someone bring sauce to the guest.By then it was too late.Sound system they use at my wedding bring tears to my eyes .I could not hear the words of the song while walking down.It was like a broken radio station.Derrick mother also was the florist and she took our money and did a lousy job.We met with her 3 times and send her pictures of bouquet .Three hours before my wedding I send for the bouquets. It was all roses when I say them. There was no ferns nor baby breath mix in and the flowers was gold and not ivory. When I confide her .Showed her the emails I sent her .She then took the
Bouquets and said she would take them to a florist and make it right. This lady came back with my flowers late and caused me to be 1 hour late for my wedding.By this people was getting ready to leave.Because I was an hour late .The reception went on an hour beyond the time.We sat and waited for Derrick to finish up our wedding .Guest was sitting asking what’s happen.Ny husband went to the staff and he was told that Derrick had left and didn’t give them any instructions. The photographer had to finish up on our wedding ceremony and so we didn’t have a lot of what was planned and also didn’t get to have our send off song. Our wedding was like a birthday party as guest walk out and left us still standing inside. That very night while staying in the cabin .Got a long email from Derrick telling me I shouldn’t have confronted his mother about the bouquets. So he deliberately left because I speak up.We dine there many times and food was good. That is why we decided to do our wedding there.Had no idea people be so cruel .You people ought to be ashamed of yourself
Food & drinks: Dining in food is good. Our wedding food was raw

Great servers and staff at the cork room! Tina in the shop was so sweet, we loaded up on rum! Enjoyed all the animals and fire pit. We can’t wait to come back.

The Cape Fear Winery is a hidden gem indeed! We were looking for a fun getaway from Wilmington so we booked a night in one of their cottages on the lake. We arrived early and were exploring the property when we ran into Ernest who has worked at the winery/distillery for 15 years. He showed us inside the distillery and explained some of the spirit making process. It was so nice of him to stop what he was doing to give us a quick tour. We ran into him later in the day and he showed us inside one of the new cottages which he was putting some finishing touches on. There is a mile or so nature trail connected to the property, animals grazing, and Brown's Creek mountain bike trail just across the street. We brought our bikes and wanted to change clothes so we can ride the nearby bike trails and Ernest was so kind as to make a call to the property staff to help us get into our cottage early. The cottage was modern, clean, and perfect for our stay. We had breakfast, dinner, and a wine tasting all in the Cork Room restaurant and bar. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. What really made an impression on my wife and I was the staff. Ernest, Michelle, Candace, and Alicia were exceptional. They are all so friendly and personable and that's what made our experience, and the whole place, so special!

We had so much fun during our stay! We stayed 2 weekends ago around the Christmas holiday. Our cottage was cute, clean and super spacious! Everyone was so kind and Candace was AMAZING!! The food was outstanding, especially the calamari and wings. My husband and I cannot wait for our next visit.

The location, animals, distillery, cabins and gift shop were fabulous, however the Cork Room Restaurant’s food was very disappointing. The Pork Chop was dry, calamari was very overcooked, seafood scampi was oily and tasteless. Too high of prices to have this type of food. Then we were going to give the breakfast Buffett a try - the eggs were cold and biscuits hard.
So don’t go for the food, but everything else was a great experience.

Restaurantji Recommends
Restaurant - good but not great.
Room (Jazz) bed springs very
, very noisy (squeaky)
Wine-$15 wine with $25 price.
Big plus is that they have a couple of dog friendly rooms. Easy walk to local park.

I’m not sure where to begin with this review but me and my husband recently got married here in October and it was pretty much a flat out disaster. Almost everything regarding our wedding was messed up. When my husband and his groomsmen arrived they had to wait over an hour to get into their room to get ready (that was paid for in advanced) which made our wedding happen later then when it was supposed to. A speaker died when guests were walking down the isle, the officiant for our wedding provided by Derrick messed up our wedding vows, we paid for a bridal centerpiece that we never got, all of the food was bad and nothing like the tasting and all of the salads were incorrect. During our cake cutting ceremony we went over with Derick who we would like to sign our marriage certificate ( they would be important people from our sides of the family) come to find out Derrick left our wedding EARLY and didn’t have anyone sign our certificate, after contacting him about this he admitted that he had staff members sign our marriage certificate instead of contacting us about this ( we were actually still at the venue ) went behind our backs and did this. Honestly there is a lot more that was messed up and I am just so disappointed in the way our wedding was handled. I really hope you guys don’t treat all of your weddings like this because I am beyond upset by everyone at this venue. I would recommend going somewhere else if you want to get married here.

Had an excellent lunch with a wine flight on a Sunday afternoon. Would highly recommend the crab cake dinner. It was fantastic, and we will definitely come back
Went back to the Cape Fear Winery this past weekend. I love this place. First, the restaurant offer a great lunch menu and full bar. The service was outstanding. I ordered the burger, and it was one of the best. Nicely charcoal cooked, quality meat, great flavor.
Outside of the the restaurant is the general shop that offers clothing, pictures, and the fine distillery liquor choices made at the winery. All very good and awarding winning products. Also, free samples to help you choose from the variety.
Overall, a wonderful experience and will make another visit very soon.
One of my go to places in the area.
