Price is a bit much but it is local and great food the cost has gone up yet we will continue to go to bike nights but gosh on a budget it’s overpriced. But security and bar tenders are great.

They have very good food! I got the Philly steak sandwich, and my wife got a gluten free pizza. I recommend both. It is a little on the pricey side...

$7 for a beer and $15 for a pretzel? These prices are insane. I wanted to wet my whistle and have a snack not get robbed. I ended up going to a Mexican restaurant up the street and got a 32oz beer for 5$ and was served chips and salsa for free.
Thank you by the way for responding to my honest review with insults. It shows your true colors and how you feel about customer satisfaction.
We really liked this place! Even bought a T-shirt haha. Beers were good, great food menu... From the pizza to burgers and the fried pickles!! Cool vibe downstairs as well!!

My husband and I have been stopping at the Angry Troll twice a year, for the past five years.
We stay at a hotel near by as we travel from FL to MD and have always had a very good experience at the Angry Troll! The atmosphere is great. Sometimes we sit at table, sometimes the bar. The staff have always been friendly, and the food pretty good and reasonably priced.

EDIT: emailed Angry Troll, and responding to their response: I find it disappointing that the blame for this issue is being placed on me as the customer. It’s not my responsibility to double-check charges or ask the server about policies that should be clearly communicated upfront. If the service fee was applied incorrectly for a group of five, that’s an error on your team’s part, not mine.
In addition, we Googled if service fees go directly to the server, and this is the response we got on most sites: "No, a service fee is not considered a tip; a service fee is a mandatory charge added to a bill for a service provided, while a tip is a voluntary amount of money given to a service worker based on the quality of service, usually left at the customer's discretion." With this information, we left a tip on top of the service fee, which resulted in our overall bill being close to $150 (almost $50) went toward the tip and service fee. On the bill at Angry Troll, it shouldn't be labeled as a "service fee" with no other context.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I am blindsided by Angry Troll’s pricing practices. We were a group of five, and although the food was ok, our final bill was surprising. They automatically added a 20% service fee to our tab, which, importantly, doesn’t even count as a tip for the server. This made our total come out to around $27 per person—high for pub food, especially when you consider that gratuity was still expected on top of the 20% service charge.
While I understand service fees for larger parties, applying this for a group of five without clear communication feels excessive and left a bit of a sour taste. I’d suggest Angry Troll Brewing be more transparent about these charges or consider including the service fee as part of the tip, so customers aren’t caught off guard by additional costs.
In the taproom downstairs the bartender Maggie was pleasant, helpful, friendly and was making our experience very enjoyable. One of the managers/supervisors on staff came down out of nowhere and totally degraded her, cursed her out for no reason, in front of us. Totally uncalled for. Ruining the entire afternoon. He then came back twenty minutes later, to double down on the disrespectful fashion he chose to treat one of his employees. Rendering her to tears upsetting all customers sitting at the bar. I will NEVER patronize an establishment that would not only talk to employees in such a manner, but also allow it. I hope Maggie takes her talents to a much more deserving company and I will tell every person I come in to contact with to not spend even one cent at this business. Disgusting behavior. Unconscionable.
Excited to Hear that Angry Troll Is coming to Mount Airy , Main Street! Can't wait for your grand opening at the old North State Winery Building!

Stopped for lunch on a long road trip and was happy with the decision. I enjoyed the vegetarian sub and pub chips. The chips were perfectly crispy and delicious with the ranch dressing. I opted not to have the bread toasted and enjoyed it.

They're okay, probably one of the better places in town.
Service kinda sucks - waitress checked in on us basically once the whole meal - and that was after I flagged her down to say we needed drink refills.
Prices are sketchy - it's an extra charge for fries, sauce on wings, carrots with wings, etc.
Food was quite good though! Will say the pizzas came probably 10-15 minutes after the sandwiches came - some lead time is fair, but that was a lot.
Cool bar environment.
