Fat Macks Grill

We visited the little village in Gold Hill for a weekend trip and tried Fat Mack’s grill our first night in town. We loved it so much, we decided to eat there for dinner the other nights we were in town. The food is great and the service is awesome!

This was a great lunch spot to stop at while walking around the village, lots of good American and Southern food options. They had the best sweet potato casserole my family has ever tried! Highly recommend!

Put this on your place to go. Everyone is friendly here. The food was great. The fried squash tasted like my grandma‘s. Everything is fresh and delicious. They have a beautiful back patio you can eat on the setting is like the 1800s.

Once a month, my brother and I meet for a meal and catch up. This month was my turn to pick where and he hadn’t been before. The meal was great!! My hubby had a burger, I had grilled chicken, my brother and sister-in-love both were impressed!! Oh, don’t forget the best fried pickles ever!!!

The Smashburger Fries appetizer at Fat Mack’s Grill in Gold Hill, NC is nothing short of phenomenal! This dish blew past our expectations—it’s the kind of appetizer that makes you want to come back just for another round. We enjoyed it as a late afternoon snack with soft drinks on the back porch, and the fact that our golden retrievers could join us made it even better.

Gold Hill itself is a hidden gem. Quaint, charming, and full of history from North Carolina’s gold mining days, it feels like one of those small mountain towns that somehow stayed off the main tourist path. The town’s historic relics and preserved spots are well worth exploring.

If you’re anywhere near Gold Hill, do yourself a favor and stop at Fat Mack’s Grill. The menu is packed with tempting options, the prices are more than reasonable, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Trust me—you’ll be glad you made the trip!

Always a fun little town to visit for something different and planning around a meal to get a little more out of the trip. The burger was great. We all got different sides to try and they were all good. Will definitely come back on the days we are looking for a little drive and a walk around town.

We're not pleased with our interaction tonight. One of the staff had her shorts so far up her butt, it was ridiculous! Have some respect for your customers!

Fat Macks Grill absolutely! My favorite place to eat! Great atmosphere. Delicious food wonderful waitresses and it feels like home over and over again anytime. We have guests at our house. We bring them here and they love it like we do!! We are quite smitten with the delicious smash burgers done like no one else! Keep up the good work girls and guys. We can't do without y'all.
