A friend from out if town bought a pineapple cake. When the purchase was made, the question was asked, 'is it fresh made'? The answer was yes! When the cake was served, it was very dry! I called Mickey's to question the freshness response and was told it was probably baked and then frozen! Being that it was frozen, I inquired about a refund. I was told that the buyer had to return to the store to process a refund!! When I replied that they lived 86 miles away, I was told that didn't matter and that I was not allowed to receive the refund. It was a long drive for that and seemed unreasonable! That answer has prompted me to not return as a customer.

We got 2 pies and a handful of donuts. The crust on the pies is very close to homemade. Way way better than big chain restaurant pies. Donuts are good too. Nothing extra special or over the top, but aggressively above average.

First time in. Not a welcome or smile from the staff or a thank you. Just stares waiting for customers to make the first move. We bought various items and the only thing that didn’t get thrown away were the glazed donuts. Cream horns looked amazing but tasted stale. Cookie too hard and stale tasting. Cupcake dry as can be and frosting like pure sugar. Also bought what we thought was an almond pound cake loaf. Looked and tasted like a Sara Lee cake that they threw a glaze on. So disappointed as everything looked so good, but definitely was not!

I had much respect for this establishment. But on our last visit, they required that I provide them with a printed copy of my daughter's service dog certificate that they could keep on file or we had to leave the establishment. I was baffled as it was not lawful. But she said that they do not follow the Federal ADA guidelines they follow fda and the state of NC regulations and that I had to produce a printed copy. Even tho federal regulations only allow them to ask 3 questions is it a service dog, and if yes, what service does he provide. I wanted to be reasonable in this circumstance because medically, my daughter was having a great day, and we were perusing wedding cake books because I wanted them to do the cake for my parents' upcoming 50th anniversary. I didn't want my daughter to start experiencing any stress and trigger medical issues as she has a brain disorder. I offered to show his certificates from my email where I had emailed them to her school, but they refused, saying he needed to be left in the car if we stayed. That is not legal or safe for the dog, but more importantly... it defeats the purpose of her having a dog to assist her. I asked her how the dog was supposed to assist her from the car in the parking lot? She was adamant that we could not stay with him and put us out. The dog did in no way misbehave act aggressive or anything he stuck to her side as he is trained to do. It's so sad that in this day and time, people choose to blatantly disregard laws and embarrass children based on their discriminatory practices against people with disabilities. I started a formal complaint with the ADA and will follow it up to the letter. I call for all people with service animals or disabilities to refrain from patronizing this place as it no longer carries the standards they started with and have no problem discriminating against disabled childrenKid-friendliness: Not if your child has a disability requiring a service animal they will put you out.

Just went in for the first and last time. So disappointing. I purchased 4 cupcakes that were dry as can be, incredibly dense to the point they had zero sponginess/tenderness. The frosting was grainy and too sweet to eat. I threw my cupcake out after the first bite. On top of the terrible cupcake, they aren’t friendly at all, just like the other reviewers said, get in and get the heck out. No time to say hello or smile at you. Maybe it was a bad day, but there are plenty of other bakeries in Goldsboro that are friendly and have wonderful treats. I’ll take my business to them.
