Vailhouse Oyster Bar & Grille

I ordered a order of fried shrimp to go they were so good but seriously there were 8 shrimp in this order i like to passed out i could not beleive it. I also go chicken tenders and a loaded back potato. The three tenders were for a three year old and please tell me whatbcomes on a loaded baked potatoe. I some cole slaw and a thing of sour cream. I have never hear of putting cole slaw on a bake potato. I was on the outside of goldsboro when i opened this disqusting food. The youg landy was new that was ringing me up and the the other waitress were so nice but will never eat there again. For what i paid for that i could eat twice at pop eyes. Even it there wouldnt had been a lot of food i could delt with it asgood as thise shrimp taste. But after the baked potato deal. Vail house. If this is what you call a loaded potato. Rethink your menu. Or somebody just got my order all mest up. And i really hate that i had been looking forward to eating their and this is a no for me for now on.

Ive eaten here 2 times in the last mth. 1st time had great fried oysters. 2nd time I went in, there was just 2 other people in at 1230 on a Saturday. I had seen lobster rolls and was excited to have them. I have an office in Cary and eat at Mason's Lobster rolls every other week. Have had a lot on my trips to Maine also. When it came it was about half the size of one's at other places. I taster a small tip and it tasted spoiled, I tried another bite from the sandwich and it was cold. The menu stated steamed with butter. I told the waitress and she went to back and said the owner said that it was how it was supposed to be. I didn't eat it. What pissed me off the most was the owner NEVER came out and talked to me about it. Ive ran 2 fine dining restaurants in the past and I always talked to All my customers ever night I worked. Ill never go back there. If he doesn't care about his customers anymore than that he doesn't need to be in the restaurant business. And he is close to the shore, so why is he selling frozen seafood? Lots of better places to eat that appreciate their customers.

I got a half peck of the oysters. They were very Sandy and had chipped shells in them. My daughter had ordered the steamed crab legs. They came out about 15 minutes after my oysters. Everything was cold. The waitress was great, the atmosphere was great. The food just did not live up to expectations.

My son is home visiting from the military and has to return back to Hawaii soon. We met up for lunch at the Vailhouse on today, to see him before he leaves, and everything was excellent. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. I highly recommend giving them a try!!

Literally the worst lobster roll I’ve ever had. It had what looked like 2 shredded tiny sprinkles of lobster like the amount you could fit on 1 fork for visual reference, on a toasted roll with no toppings, no sauce, no nothing, dryy lol 🤧. This was on 9/21/25. Also our waitress had nooo idea what fountain drinks they had 😵‍💫

2 stars because the restaurant was clean. But I really should have just went to Chilis because $18 for my toddler sized lobster roll was diabolical.

If the manager see’s this idk find a new chef or train them better so that they take better pride it what they do. I worked with food/customer service before it’s really not that hard.

I had the pleasure of having the owner wait on me when I went in for my birthday. Such wonderful hospitality! He shucked my oysters and chargrilled my steak himself - the food was delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly. It was not my first time here and definitely will not be my last.

Awesome food, great atmosphere and excellent service. We will be back! Had the ahi tacos and grilled shrimp basket, cajun oyster app. All were wonderful.

We just finished eating at Vailhouse.

My mother ordered the shrimp and scallop combination. She got one whole scallop and two small pieces of scallop for the scallop portion.

I ordered the salad with grilled shrimp. The salad greens were limp, not crispy. The salad was drowning in dressing to the point I could not eat it.

When I pointed this out to the server, I was told she would give a discount. The discount was 10% of my entry only, $1.34.

We are disappointed in Vailhouse and do not plan to return as customers.

Great menu items and super service. The bang bang shrimp are the best item on the menu in my opinion. The menu selections are all good. If you are feeling brave and like HOT stuff you have to try the ghost oyster challenge! Whatever you order it's sure to please.

Good shrimp and Grits and good service!!

I am not a seafood eater but the people with me were. Everybody was very happy with her food.

We enjoyed the Flounder, crab legs and the Lobster roll, very reasonable prices. Everything was delicious definitely worth going back to for more dinners
