So we found this place a while back and loved it. Staff was always great and food and drinks were great as well. Tonight we went in and for dinner. Sat down at the bar. The other couple at the bar were leaving at the time and making us two the only ones at the bar. The bar tender a short female asked us for drinks. We said we were good at the moment and needed to decide. After several minutes of her, staring at us and us staring at her, I ask if we could have menus. So she ended his two food menus and we ask what the specials were and she said there was none. A few moments later, a taller lady walked behind the bar, and I inquired about drink specials. The short one said oh yeah, and walked down to the other end of the bar picked up a figurine that was holding the drink specials. Write them off and sat them down. So one of the drink specials on the front door that she didn’t even tell us about was the fresh fruit blackberry Mojitos we ordered one of those and I ordered a whiskey The short bartender has no clue what she’s doing on making Mojitos as she put the ice in the fruit in the glass together, and then use the muddler to crush the ice and the fruit After receiving our drinks from what I call a beer, Tender. We ordered our dinner. I ordered the thick cut pork chop. Which was at least 40% bone when I got it. It was also severely overcooked. I understand people make mistakes and have off days. However, when they asked me if I was done with my food and I pointed out, that half of the pork chop, I had was solid bone the short Bar Tender just kind of shrugged your shoulders and ignored the comment. Upon conversation with another gentleman that came to the bar I found out she’s the manager of the place. All I Gotta say is there’s night and day difference and doesn’t even seem like the same place that I was at three days ago.
We recently went for our anniversary. The salad bar was excellent. The personnel friendly and professional. Love the old home cosiness and charm. We went for the ribeye, cooked medium and one medium well. They looked delicious. They were very tough and chewy. We were disappointed we chose this steak house. It was our attempt to try them again to see if their steaks improved. They have not. If we go back, we will order something other than a steak.

We just waited 15 minutes at a table and never saw a waitress. Then we saw her as she waited on people who walked in after us. Goodness. It’s a hit and miss with you guys.
Steak & potatoe salad was ok but everything else was trash.... overall food was way too salty and I ended up throwing mostly everything away. Spent over $100 but I'll never eat from this place again......can't see how people like this place .....food was disgusting

I find that food and service seem to be a hit and miss at Village Steakhouse. While I never like to post a negative review, I do think it is the best way for the restaurant owner to know how to make their restaurant better. My mother and I went last night and had a reservation so we were seated almost immediately. Unfortunately, it took quite a while for the waitress to approach our table for a drink order so we already knew what we wanted to order for dinner. Gave her the drink and dinner order at the same time and dinner arrived arrived within about 20 minutes BUT it came before the drink order came to the table. Had to remind the waitress that we still needed drinks. Went to the salad bar and people in line were complaining that the lettuce was brown. The staff keeping the salad bar stocked went to the kitchen for more due to the complaints and came back with lettuce equally as brown and simply added it to what was already on the bar instead of replacing what was there. Ordered the sticky shrimp which is usually a favorite of mine. While the food flavor was there for me, the BBQ sauce on the shrimp is usually "sticky" or caramelized from being grilled but last night it was simply slathered on the shrimp and was somewhat overpowering. My dinner guest ordered the bacon wrapped scallops and was given four scallops for $40.00 (that's $10 a scallop). There was a table of 6 next to us complaining about their food as well.....said their steaks weren't seasoned and asparagus was mushy. The lettuce was clearly at the end of its shelf life, the asparagus was mushy, and even the lemons for our tea were mushy also. Lastly, we had to remind the waitress to bring bread to our table which she ended up doing when she brought the "to go" boxes. One would usually say that it was just a bad or inexperienced waitress but it was also a kitchen cook issue. They also weren't very busy at all with some waitresses just standing around. It was also very warm in the restaurant but that could be due to the fact that it's an old house converted to a restaurant.

We ate here tonight and were thoroughly disappointed. I ordered the fajita wrap, which came with raw onions. I have never heard of anything fajita related that did not have cooked onions and peppers. The waitress thought that was how it is made. Even besides that, it was terrible. The chicken was barely cooked and the wrap was burned. I ate only a few bites. There was no offer to take it off the bill or fix something else even when I said it was really not good. Salad bar was mediocre. Will not eat here again.
