This was my 1st visit to this restaurant, the service 1st off was horrible the front counter guy acted as if I was bothering him when I asked where do I get utensils and my drink he just pointed over there. The girl that took my order just stood there looking as if I needed to hurry again this is my 1st time ever in this establishment. Got my food and was looking forward to the brisket because it's my favorite big mistake ordering this it tasted like a chemical gas of some sort! Absolutely horrible! My husband and I were very disappointed. Needless to say that we will never return! Service and Food by far my worst experience this year!

I had not been here to Steve's before two ladies stood there and never even looked at me as to helping me I had no idea where to go and what to do... the food was good it could have had a lot more fat for me... beef brisket with just a little dry... fat on the outside but no interstitial fat...

Was absolutely the best meal I have had in this area! And one of the best i have had from any restaurant anywhere. Plentyful and delicious. I recommend everyone trys it at least once.
I have been going here for a long time. And every time it gets better. The feeling of walking in and seeing the fresh split wood under the ordering counter, smelling the cooking meats, it’s utterly amazing. The new brunch menu they have is amazing and freaking margaritas!! I wish I could go everyday. I love the bbq, and hush puppies. You won’t be disappointed.

Entering Steve’s, I was greeted very nicely. I then ordered takeout during a busy time for the restaurant around 7ish and received my order around 7:35pm. I was very disappointed by the wait time for the food that was served. There was a wait for the mac and cheese that literally tasted like nothing. Also, I was disappointed by how dry and how tasteless the brisket (received two dry thick slices, usually get four thin slices) and sausage were. The only thing fresh I had was the cucumber salad, season-less mac and cheese, and fresh hush puppies. One of the servers had my food sitting behind the counter and I was confused because I thought they would call the takeout orders. But if it weren’t for her then I would’ve been sitting there even longer.
Overall, the food was bland. The only food that is served consistently and usually reordered (from me) is the cucumber salad. Even the homemade sauces are more reliable than the food. Everything else has been a hit or miss. I’m disappointed because I was looking forward to eating here at Steve’s since it’s been awhile (pretty much a year). This visit confirmed why I don’t go here often anymore.

I really tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt but I can’t. Came here around 2pm, I know the earlier the better is a good time for barbecue spots. we tried the: brisket slices(smoke ring solid, besides salt and the smoke it wasn’t much flavor sadly, little on dry side. Fat was cooked perfect though) sausage(fine flavor wise but dry) 1/2 chicken(smoked well, just not alot of flavor. Either more season or brine marinade needs a kick) baked beans(it was alright) Mac n cheese w/ bacon (not cheesy enough or enough of a flavor) cucumber salad was my favorite.
Overall lacked in flavor good bit, thankful for sauces but at $48 for 2 I can’t begin to say how low the value is here.
Just my opinion, High point locals must like this style. Eastern ENC barbecue head 🐷

If you are looking for a sign to try this place, here you go! 10 out of 10 folks. Atmosphere was unique in that you have the smokehouse on one side, pantry and drinks in the middle, and groceries on the far side. I thought that was super cool. More importantly though, the food was incredible. I got the special: Burnt ends bowl on mash with a side of greens. So so good. I think a large portion of what makes a smokehouse great is not only the meats but the sides. Their options were on point and the greens I got were top tier. Service was extremely efficient, got our food within 5 minutes during peak lunch hour. Will definitely be back.
