Castle Bay is a very well maintained course. It is an enjoyable location and the staff are great.
Awkward. They gave me a full refund but we were kicked off after being 2min late on hole 2. Political stuff all over the course which could be easily controversial and seemed unprofessional. Okay prices but if you're not a pro golfer or belong to the club I wouldn't recommend going. Also very strict on attire.
Great shape great staff very courteous!!!
I am a huge fan of Castle Bay! Really a fun layout to play, challenging, but not insanely penal. It has a bit of a linksy feel to it. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. It is a must play public course in the Wilmington area.
Decent track in Hampstead! Pretty flat and usually windy but usually in good shape and the people are nice. Can get crowded on busy weekends but other than that, it’s a go-to course for us
I definitely enjoyed playing this course. It was in really good shape and everyone was very nice. Club pro had no problem storing my luggage etc while I played as I traveled in from out of town.
I've always liked playing here . Until today when I was trying to get a start time for 3 of us on a Wednesday. Nothing available until 12:44 . I said ,okay ,but I might have to cancel if the other guys don't want to play that late. That's when things changed. She asked me for to update my email address, phone number, and last name . Then asked for my card number to reserve the tee time. I've played Castle Bay many times in the past and never have been asked to reserve the tee time with my card information.I said ,I'm not giving you that information. If this is the case going forward, I'll never try and make a tee time there in the future.
Had my 2 nd hip replacement and finally was cleared to hit my driver, called on Sunday and was told no problems with hitting the driving range on Monday morning. Got there and was told that the course was closed due to a tournament,,, seems to always be some issue there , went to Old Point and had a great session!
Don’t play here, unless you enjoy waiting 45 minutes between every shot. 1:30 tee time and did not finish until the sun set. What are we doing here?! I grew barnacles sitting in my cart so for long. Get it together you geezers in the pro shop.
Over booked like crazy. Our round took 7 hours to finish. Tee time was 1:30 and finished the round at 7:15. As the sun started to set the bugs came out. Standing on the tee box or sitting in the carts for 15 mins in between every shot was not helping. Thought it was a nice course but I’ve never had to wait so long in my life. Made the round miserable. The funniest part of the whole situation is the cart was telling us we were only about 40 minutes off pace of play. I guess they play 6 hour rounds here in Hampstead. Won’t be playing again.

Course was in good shape for being February. The staff right from arrival were super friendly and helpful. Even with a frost delay they let me play as a single and got me off within 10 minutes of my scheduled tee time
Men are out openly urinating on the fairways and off the wooden bridges. My wife finally was able to video this guy openly urinating on the course behind our house at 12:51 pm today. There is more, but it can't be written here. The Sheriff's Office has been contacted.
It’s a fun little course (maybe because I was playing well is the reason it was fun, I’m not sure lol) and the staff were all polite. Had all the practice areas you would want. For November golf, the course was in good shape and the greens are very fast. The reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because when you call to make a tee time, the call is answered by a call center representative offshore, not someone physically at the course. This is very strange, simply because I’ve never encountered that before in my 5 years of golfing. Additionally when you make the tee time, you have to provide your credit card info and they don’t ask how many players you’d be playing with. So when you get a confirmation email it says that if you fail to cancel the tee time within 24 hours of it, you’ll be charged the full amount for 4 players. I understand golf courses get busy especially in the summer but it is frustrating when you call the phone number for them, and someone far away answers. I would want that resolved in the future.Overall though, I’ll be going back to Castle Bay in the future because I enjoyed the golf course and the layout.
Some of the worst customer service I have dealt with. I have tried to contact the pro shop on multiple occasions only to be transferred to an off shore representative that “has no other way to contact the shop” and to try calling again, which I had to several times, different days. Finally got in touch with someone at the shop and was on the phone for less than 1 minute (I checked) and was told “I have customers I can’t be dealing with this”. I was willing to be placed on hold instead of dealing with trying to get a local person again. I rarely leave poor reviews, but after several negative encounters, I feel like this is the only way to let them know that their current operations are awful. 0/5 if I could.
Golf course is great but Saturday afternoon and the restaurant is out of food.
