Beautiful & fresh sushi. Decor is warm and elegant. Lovely for date night or lunch.

I always wondered about this place. It lived up to its reviews. Very flavorful sushi, impressive friendliness of staff and the owner/operator. Very clean, inviting, comfortable and prompt. Can't wait to go back!

Great food, waitress disappeared after bringing us our food. Nice place, definitely the best Chinese food in Hampstead.

I absolutely love Sushi Gem! Everything always tastes so fresh and delicious. Sushi, dumplings, hibachi, noodles - they've got it all! They even just updated their interior.

Really love this place. Reliable, friendly (except the bartender - she's grumpy haha), good food!

I told the bartender's daughter a life experience about being fierce because she had social anxiety. The next thing I know I'm being thrown out for flirting. I never flirted. All I did was tell the girl to be fierce and everything that she did. What do you do? You've had a couple beers someone's telling you you have to go. I will not be back

Great sushi, pad Thai, fried rice, hibachi, crab Rangoon. Everything we’ve tried has been very good. Our go to place in hampstead area

This place is much more than just sushi. We had never been there before thinking it was just sushi but we had recently found out that they had more than just sushi so we figured we would give it a try. It was a little pricey but in the end we left feeling like it was well worth it. We had the chicken teriyaki and the beef teriyaki and the were both great. Tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The sauces were great and not real heavy tasting or feeling. The vegetables were cooked just right. Then we also had the crab rangoon and spring rolls which actually had real crab in it and was nice and flakey with the dipping sauce being a perfect addition for it. We ordered drinks with it. The Maitais which were okay but we were so into the food that we didn't even end up drinking our drinks till the very end after we had already eaten all we could eat becuase the food was that good. This place will be our new go to spot for Asian food. It puts all the other places we have been to in NC to shame. We will be taking our kids there with us next time so they can experience how good it is. We definitely recommend trying this place out and we will definitely be going back.

Can never get served here. The last time we came the bartender made a big deal we showed up 45 minutes before close. Today we gave it a second chance (earlier) and was just straight up ignored and not helped. Walked out and went somewhere else.

The Service is plain BAD. I’m leaving for the second time of walking in and not being served. The first time was about a month ago about 45 minutes before closing and the bartender said that we couldn’t get served because it was close to closing. This time we came an hour plus waited at the host stand for 10 minutes. I never got spoken to. I will take my business elsewhere. Hampstead is too small to be treating people this way if and when a sushi place comes to Hampstead to compete with this place it will be out of business shortly after.
