This is such a beautiful winery! We stop every time we travel through the area.

Unfortunately, the wine is okay, the views are nice. But the service with Carolyn… wow. I don’t have words for how awful she is. We tried twice, 6 months in between visits. Thinking we would give it a second try. Maybe it was an off day for her the first time we visited. Nope. She’s as miserable and unwelcoming as they come. Don’t bother her- she will make you feel like you shouldn’t be there. I even asked her- “oh, were you not expecting guests? Are you actually open?” That’s how she makes you feel as you walk in. No matter who you are, what you look like or how much you spend. Unfortunately, she ruins the entire experience there. If she was just a bit nice, it would have been a better experience. Likely the higher reviews were guests waited on by the other very sweet lady (if you choose to visit- make sure to go right to the much younger blonde woman- not the short grey haired older woman- it will change your entire experience). Funny how both times we asked about the owners, she says they are out of town- but another reviewer commented that Carolyn IS the owner. Who knows. Who cares. We certainly won’t be back and will make sure to let our network of wine lovers know not to waste their time or money there unless they don’t care about service. This review is leaving out something else that happened that would immediately identify us which we prefer not to mention- but she didn’t care about that either. No amount of wine can make her enjoyable. We spent our money at 9 other wineries over the course of our 6 day visit and had all very positive and enjoyable visits. Go to shadow springs, adagio, Raffaldini, Sotrio, Piccione, Castello Barone… ALL much better atmospheres.

Beautiful winery, they have excellent dry red wines! We love visiting here!

Beautiful and peaceful location. Unique wines made onsite and only available at the vineyard. Bonus delicious vinaigrette dressing also homemade.

One of my favorite vineyards, with my favorite NC red wine: Scarlett Mountain. Love the people there, too.

We have visited Laurel Grey 3 times. The first time was great bc the owner helped us. However she talked negatively about other nearby wineries. Unfortunately the other two times Carolyn helped us and we found her to be rude and very unhelpful about wine choices. One member of our party has a lot of wine experience (WSET Level 3) and was asking Carolyn some questions and her reply was "you can read the description yourself" and she gave another member a very hard time about choosing a sweeter wine to drink (to be clear it is a wine they make and serve). She called their own wine "welch's grape juice." We have now had 2 very negative experiences and would not return. The wine is mediocre for the area. Other NC Wineries have amazing hosts and higher quality wines.

I love Laurel Gray. I enjoy there sweet wines. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The owners are very nice! The vineyard is very peaceful and beautiful.
Very easy to get to from 421 and I-77. I love when they have a food truck and music! They have indoor and outdoor seating! Close to Shiloh General Store and other wineries!

We clearly had a different experience than the people before us. A cold reception, the tiniest bits to try the wine, which meant you couldn't actually make a good judgement. We are in a holiday home, but there is no service to open the purchased bottle. We were allowed to buy an opener…. No, not recommended, I would have liked to make another vineyard happy with my money.
