Harrisburg Family House

This restaurant is family oriented. The food is home style cooking. The famous Athens beef strips are excellent. I highly recommend going to this restaurant if you’re in or around Harrisburg.

All around great place. We've been once a month for a while. We'd go more often but live too far away. We got chicken and dumplings, chicken liver plate and gyro salad.

Always a great time here, they have a very full menu with lots to choose from. Old school feel but great service and the food is always fresh and hot, whether you want chicken, burgers, Italian, anything. They have almost everything you could ever want on the menu. I never regret going there, you can try something new everyday. Whether you dine in or take out it's always the best! Can be busy on the weekend so beware.

Waitstaff is always attentive here. Good service and good comfort food. I had the fried flounder with mashed potatoes and gravy and the fried squash. The fried squash and their fried mushrooms are always a big hit with my hubby! He had a seafood combo of fried catfish and flounder, and his sides were cabbage and fried squash. (he said he meant to order the fried mushrooms but forgot) Of course, we both had the crunchy hush puppies along with our Arnold Plamer sweet tea!! Food was good...had the fried chicken, collards and squash...no wait for a table. Waitress was very good. The biggest issue I had here was the telephone located at the front check out counter constantly ringing at what was heard as the highest volume the phone could ring. I assume this phone was connected to the phone in orders...no one ever answered it at the front desk but was very annoying and disrupted any conversation intended amongst those you are eating with. I can find just as good cafeteria/diner food elsewhere without the phone blasting constantly.

We had stuffed shells and he had the gyro plate. I enjoyed it, so did he. We ordered online, went to the pick up window, it wasn't ready yet. And they pulled me to the parking area and I was shocked and pleasantly surprised with the young lady who walked my order to my car. I was expecting to go back thru the window in 10 mins or so from the time I pulled away. But I was so appreciative of that young lady. I was bit by a dog last week so I can't reallywalk to well for a while. So thank ya lil lady!
