The food was like eating at a cafeteria. The bbq had heavy tomato flavor, mac n cheese tasted like canned mac n cheese. The stew was cold and tasted like canned stew. The fried pickles were decent. The fried food tasted like it were cooked in old oil. The table and seat felt sticky. I was asked if I wanted to tip which I did. I asked to tip 10.00 but the receipt added a fee to the bill and my tip as well was 10.40. So I got a fee twice it seemed. No sign about this nor was I told before she swiped my card. When i mentioned it she chuckled like it was funny. Very disappointing experience. And my partners started feeling ill before we even left.

Stopped by when I got off work and ordered a trout special and a dark meat fried chicken dinner with cabbage and baked beans every thing was delicious, this place has been in business for a long time and I hope they don't ever go out of business cause when u have worked hard all day and want a home cooked meal there ain't many choices here in Henderson. Over 60 years in business is an awesome accomplishment!

Easy to drive by, but I'm glad I didn't. Gracious and friendly staff. Food was good. Personally, I wasn't the biggest fan of the pulled pork with the sauce already in it ... I felt it was chopped too fine and the sauce flavor dominated the flavor of the pork ... but that's all relative. Brunswick stew enjoyable and the fried chicken was on point! Enjoyed the mac and cheese as well. Really, really enjoyed the banana pudding. I think the prices are fair, especially considering the portions.
Improvements?: I'd love to see a pulled pork option without the sauce. It would also be great to see collard greens on the menu as well ... what the heck ... aren't we in North Carolina? Ha. Either way, I'm glad we came by and I'll make it a point to stop by again whenever I'm in the area.

Amazing food. And the service for 1st time customers was great. We got to try different things. The barbecue, the hushpuppies as well as the banana pudding where absolutely amazing. We would come back.

Staff needs to learn how wash their hands after they come in from smoking. You can never get thru to place a curbside order, they never answers the phone. The owner needs to realize how much business they are losing. They also need a ring doorbell so your staff can see who is at the pickup windows, to help them to get the order correct. And finally, why are you charging people to do business with you, when they use their debit or credit cards, a major turnoff.

Waited 10 minutes to check out, did not get my 4% discount after paying cash. Waited 10 minutes for drinks. Fish had oil dripping, took 10 napkins to soak it up.

Walk in see 4 employees sitting in the middle and one was our server. we sit down and the table was dirty dried water rings from cups you could wipe away with your finger, but they all looked the same no one directed us to sit down.

When she came to get our drink order I noticed a live roach on the ground near our table it was walking in circles I had assumed it was dying but when I mentioned it to our server she stepped on it and kicked it under the table next to us.
she puts down our drinks and takes our order i saw a 4.1 star ratting and we pass by it all the time it would be good to try I WAS WRONG.

The food was bad and after reading the poor reviews AFTER I ate there I wish I had read them sooner, My burger looked like someone had sliced off a bit of Grey meatloaf and used a round cookie cutter to shape it no flavor I tasted the onions I tasted the cheese I tasted the bread but I felt the meat and it wasn't good.
My girlfriend got the pork sandwich we also got the cheese pork tots which sad, the tots were fine their pork tasted off to me my girlfriends sandwich was edible she said but she has a stronger stomach then me the presentation was just tots little bit of cheese and a large scoop of questionable pulled pork.

This place is gross avoid

extremely fast service and amazing food. the corn pudding was some of the best we ever had. worth getting off of I-85 and skipping chain restaurants to enjoy this gem.

Brunswick stew and corn pudding had so much sugar added I couldn't eat more than a bite or two. BBQ had too much vinegar. Hush puppies were good. Service and atmosphere were OK.
