Very disappointing experience.
We were originally on the waitlist for a table and were told the wait would be about 1.5 hours, so we decided to place a carryout order instead. We were told it would take around 45 minutes, paid for the order, and waited.
After 45 minutes, we were suddenly told that our order had been cancelled without any notification, despite the fact that we had already paid. At this point, we had been waiting a long time with my pregnant wife and our toddler. After pushing back, they reluctantly agreed to still make our food.
We then had to wait another 45 minutes, and the staff was unfriendly throughout the entire interaction. No apology, no accountability, and no concern for our situation.
Poor communication, poor service, and very frustrating overall.

Had a great lunch . The Root Vegetable Soup was great as well as the Grilled Cheese Sandwich with pepperoni. The bartender Kennedy made the best Expresso Martini and the new Spiced Peppermint Hot Chocolate.

Great experience all around! The customer service was excellent — our server, Kanisha, was amazing with recommendations and drinks. The food was delicious, everything came out perfect, and the overall atmosphere was great. You can tell they really care about their guests. We’ll definitely be back!

Been in Highlands for 25 years, and eaten here as long as they have been open. I’m a foodie after a decade living in Charleston. Food is usually good enough to be happy, but no reservations makes it unacceptable. Make reservations elsewhere and eat the best pizza in your home town. This makes your plans easier for vacations.

My wife and I stopped in while we were in Highlands NC. My wife is vegan and I’m vegetarian. It’s nice that they have a vegan cheese and my wife ordered the Ultimate Veggie pizza and she let them know that she was vegan and to get the vegan cheese. I ordered the marinara with Peppadew Peppers and mushrooms. My wife’s pizza came out first and had some sort of drizzle on it and I told her I think that looks like dairy of some sort. She assumed that it was not because she had told them she was vegan. Then my pizza came out and had mushrooms, peppadews and pepperoni. I told them I did not ask for pepperoni and that I did not want that pizza. They said they would get me another one and within a minute they brought back another pizza and when I asked how are they so quick they told me they pulled the pepperoni off from it. Since I am vegetarian I of course was pretty grossed out and just refused the pizza and told them forget about making another one. Also I could’ve easily picked the pepperoni off myself if it was just a matter of me not liking pepperoni. Later when the server came back and asked if we needed anything I asked what the drizzle was on my wife’s pizza and she said it’s aïoli. My wife asked what is it made of and she went and checked with the kitchen and came back and said olive oil, garlic, paprika and some other spices. No mayonnaise was mentioned. She went away and then came back again and I called her out on it and I could see she got very nervous because I had caught her in a lie and I confirmed with her that it was a mayonnaise base. So that’s the real dealbreaker and the reason why I am giving them one star because they lied. It’s bad enough they screwed up my order and then just tried to pick the pepperoni off instead of making a new pie. The server even went so far as to say she wrote vegan on the ticket in order to cover her own butt. Although the pizza may be great it is certain that they will lie to your face if they feel the need and I personally, I do not like being lied to.

We just ordered pickup since we had our dog. There wasn’t anywhere to sit outside and eat with her so we ordered to go and ate back at our hotel. The pizza was super tasty and great to be able to find a thin crust wood fired pizza!

Great food and atmosphere. Try the root vegetable soup! Salads are copious, flavorful and creative.
But the service? Apathetic, unintuitive, not inquisitive, lackadaisical.

This is a required meal when visiting the highlands. The best pizza with wood fired ovens. Excellent crust, choices of specialty pizzas. Most with arugula. Caesar salad was plentiful for two and delicious. Ask for extra fresh fresh Parmesan. It gets crowded but wait times are reasonable and worth it. I think their sandwiches looked good as well. I tried their root based vegetable soup and it was very good. Add some red pepper flakes to it. The service was excellent and pleasant.

Really enjoyed this restaurant. We stopped in around 4 on a weekday in October. Perfect weather. We ordered the MeatLover Pizza and it was excellent. Also ordered the Caesar salad and it was outstanding. Great service, nice atmosphere. Highly recommend.
