My sister and I stayed at one of the spa suites . They are awesome . This was for my 70th birthday and it was such a memorable experience. The room was spacious and had a balcony. The staff were wonderful and accommodating. I highly recommend this inn for a great time.
This was our second visit to Old Edwards Inn and it once again was fantastic. Great service, amenities and room (Lee King Suite at the Lodge). Plenty of room at the pool, around the fire, and hummingbird lounge. Our anniversary dinner at Madison’s was amazing. Thanks OEI team!
We stayed for a weekend at Old Edwards and had an incredible time! From when we were greeted by Shafay and her team to Marco escorting us to our room to the incredible service by Daniel in front office it was a spectacular experience. Great spa, restaurants and hiking nearby. This was our first visit to North Carolina and Old Edwards delivered a world class experience. Highly recommended!!!
Have stayed here 2 years in a row at the end of August for three nights. Always get the golf package. Includes 1 dinner which is fabulous. This year we stayed in the Luxury Suite. Unbelievable! Treated like royalty. Can't say anything bad about the Inn.
Basically this place is running a "bait and switch'" operation. Don't fall for the advertised 'special' on their own web site... they quote what is to be included and then when you go to check out they charge for those items ( diner for 2, 2 spa treatments and 2 night stay was their April special which I booked) I have been trying to get this resolved since April. Every call I made was met with promises of looking into it without a single return call, over and over again. At this point I'm sure I'm out the extra money but, not that they care, they are out a customer...never again! Be careful and don't fall for this scam!
Stayed for 3 nights in a 2 room cabin (obscenely overpriced) for a tired cabin in the woods. When I walked in the door it smelled musty and felt damp, There was a stand alone dehumidifier already running non-stop in the main room (unsightly & noisy appliance) . The bed was comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. Housekeeping does a good job cleaning daily and offer turn down service. The room furniture was definitely outdated and worn out. The service at the pool was not god either. I was told that the Old Edward Inn sells pool & fitness memberships to the local community for a monthly fee. The local members take up the majority of the limited lounge chairs and act as if hotel guests are a nuisance and the members can make you feel unwelcome. The average age of guests has to be in the mid 70’s and up. Very few young families or guests. The service provided by the hotel staff was mixed. They hire much of the working staff from overseas (Jamaica) in some sort of 2 year exchange training program, some are are hard working and some are nonchalant and not very friendly (pool & Madisons restaurant). I had heard good reviews about the in-house dining at Madison’s Restaurant, I experienced poor service and just average food quality. The.spa was very poorly run: My first day we went for foot massages and they had trouble with the sound system and the second day my wife and I went for full body massages and to enjoy the spa make ties (whirlpool & steamrrom): however they had decided to drain the whirlpool so half the amenities were not available. they drained the whirlpool so it was not available. All in all it was a disappointing experience because the service, rooms and amenities were not at all worth the prices they charge. I would not recommend this Inn & Spa for the lack of value and poor service.
We have stayed at many Relais and Chateaux properties and they are definitely our favorite brand. The Old Edwards Inn was very nice like the others. The only negative here is there is no breakfast included and no water is provided in the room or at turn down service. The only option is to purchase a refillable bottle. Madison’s restaurant was good and the town is lovely.
My husband and I popped by the Hummingbird Lounge for a drink last week. Rasheem greeted us warmly and showed us to a cozy table. A Paloma and a glass of wine made for the perfect end to our vacation. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. Next time we visit Highlands we hope to stay at The Old Edward’s Inn!
I’ll start with the positive – the hotel has beautiful grounds and well appointed rooms. And the location is fantastic - walkable to many great things downtown. But the service is seriously lacking. Long waits at the bars and restaurants. Cocktails are not good…at all. Good luck getting a chair at the pool. Pool bar service is based on the size of your swimsuit - the smaller it is, the quicker you get served. After sitting at the pool bar feeling invisible as I could not get service (other women who walked up to the bar after I sat down got served ahead of me), I walked to another bar on property to get finally service. At check in, we were upfront with the hotel staff that we would love a room that was quiet so we could relax and also my so husband could do some business calls. They gave us the noisiest room on the property – directly on the corner of the 2 busiest streets in town. We heard people yelling, motorcycles, trucks etc all day, well into the evening. Save your money and go to Blackberry Farms where they get the service model right.
Dinner at Madison's Restaurant was absolutely amazing. The quality of the food, the attentive service - a perfect "10". Two members of the serving staff deserve special comments: Stein (? sp) - a 'trainee' from Rotterdam was so attentive and informative and Celine - made the experience memorable. We will be back.

We 4 had a wonderful time. Our cottage was perfect and very cozy. The entire experience was great. We loved it. Our experience at Madisons was perfection. Every staff person we interacted with was so nice and helpful too. The grounds guys working at the pool planting trees etc were really nice as well. Very impressive .
Have visited OEI eleven times now and it is such a special place to spend a milestone celebration or even just to rejuvenate your soul! My husband and I most recently were there in February and it was perfect, it is truly a place to make lasting memories with the one you love. Can't wait to return.....
No sound proofing in unit - “ the Falls”. Could couple above doing the wild thing above. Early morning conversation from the group adjacent to us and loud children next door. Was described as the “Kings Cottage - a stand alone cottage with private patio”. It a a dressed up condo - had better at the beach for for a three bedroom condo for about the same price. Be sure to double check your accommodations before you go.
I hesitate to post a review as I don’t want everyone to know about this off the beaten path locale. Two nights at this amazing Inn were not enough! I never wanted to leave! The grounds, the little town, the restaurants, the hiking, the waterfalls and the attention to detail were all wonderful! The extra special touches like the Dove bars, the Nespresso , the heated bathroom floors and towel warmers , the turn down service and so much more make this a stay I will never forget. I have found my new favorite hotel!
Went with my husband for a relaxing weekend and it was perfect. From the time you arrive you truly do not have to worry about a thing. Definitely recommend a massage at the spa and would encourage you to book early in the day to enjoy the full amenities- we booked the last spot and had a brief time prior to our appointment- wished I had booked earlier to fully enjoy the amenities! Definitely plan on going back!
