The Ugly Dog Public House- Highlands

The chicken was uncooked/had a weird texture. Had to return it. The quality of food was very basic. The salad was good. The server didn’t bring our drinks out and we had to take them ourselves.

Always a disappointment. Service is lacking, food is inconsistent.. which makes for an ok experience at best. Ugly Dog in Cashiers (different owners) much better.

Sat at a table outside. Nice atmosphere. Had the guacamole burger. My friend had the shrimp & grits. Both were very good and reasonably priced.
Updated review: Discovered that they make really good Margaritas but ordered a Margherita flatbread pizza, which should have 3 ingredients - Tomatoes, Mozzarella, and Basil. This one had no basil! And, it was a little soggy for flatbread.

The Ugly Dog is a Highlands must! After a bad experience at another spot, we ended up here by chance and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Grace was absolutely amazing — warm, friendly, and so attentive while somehow taking care of so many tablesr at lightning speed. We watched guest after guest thank her, and we felt so lucky she was our server. The food was outstanding too (the salmon BLT and tots are perfection, and the flatbread pizza was delicious). On the way home, my husband said if we were still in Highlands, he’d go back just for another salmon BLT tonight!

A special thank you to Grace at The Ugly Dog! She is truly amazing, and made us feel like the most important table in the room. Her energy and warmth turned our night around and made the whole experience unforgettable.

Couldn't get seated. 9 in front of us. The hostess advised she could not predict a time because some folks might linger to listen to the live Bluegrass music. So 5 stars to her for honesty.

This is my second time dining here, and WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! Our server ALEXIS C was literally nice at the beginning when she asked for our drinks. After we told her that we were ready to order, her attitude was horrible. My dad asked for wings, but we did not know that they did not come with flavors. My dad was trying to explain that to my mom, and our server did not have patience AT ALL! Then she acted like she couldn't understand his English?? Like maybe we should talk to her in Spanish then?? She was also assisting a table next to us , and GUESS WHAT? She was so nice to all of them . Why ? Well, all of them were white like her. I immediately gave a look to my fiancé (HE IS ALSO WHITE) and agreed this was a racist act from her. Just because my mom, dad, and I have accents and we are not blue-eyed and blonde , does not mean that this server should treat us like she did. HORRIBLE SERVICE AND RACIST SERVER.

Absolutely LOVE the Charcuterie and the Cobb salad. Service is impeccable. I've NEVER had a bad meal , beverage or experience here. Love this place!

Stopped into Ugly Dog Pub and had a great experience! Sat at the bar and we were lucky to have Will as our bartender—hard to believe it was only his second day! He was super attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. Great service and good vibes all around.
