The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. The owner becomes very defensive when you question the quality of his product. The BBQ is a different story we ordered the brisket, pulled pork and ribs. The ribs were tender with little flavor and way too much smoke. The pulled pork was very generic at best. If you are looking for traditional Eastern NC barbecue this is not the place. The brisket was horrible lots of fat and not tender at all. Everything had too much smoke and it left bitter taste in my mouth which took a long time to go away. If my review was based solely on the bbq I would give the restaurant 1 stars.

The chicken stripes are really good. The brisket and mac n cheese were good. The Mac n cheese needs to be more creamy. The cheesecake is excellent and made fresh daily until it is sold out. Another place I will stop at to get some really good food.
I had shrimp and grits, and my wife asked for fish and chips along with my sister. The waitress immediately asked Tony, and he made it for them. Both entries were very tasty. We were very pleased with our visit.

We decided to order Easter dinner meat from here as we love supporting local and the food is amazing. However we were VERY disappointed that we asked for two of each of these sauces as we ordered 3 pounds of meat, they gave us two of each but each one was less than half full this is a photo of AFTER we combined them. It equaled one of each sauce, we did not dip into it at all as its for tomorrow anyways. This was a $75 order.

My husband and I stopped in yesterday, we were visiting from out of town and saw them on Google. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, our food was outstanding! We ordered the Fries with brisket and queso, and the Mac and cheese with brisket., and a side of the baked beans to share. The brisket is perfection, so juicy and tender it almost just melts in your mouth. The fries are fresh hand cut, and the Mac and cheese was home made. The beans were awesome, you could taste a little chili powder which was perfect. The portions were huge ! Both my husband and I had to get take home boxes, mine had enough for 2 more meals ! We also.purchased w bottles of their sauce. Anytime we get to the area we plan to make this a regular stop ! If you are in the area don't miss out.Vegetarian options: Our waitress said they do offer a salad and are happy to make a small or large one . They had requests for in the past for a meatless options and she said they were happy to provide it !Kid-friendliness: They did have kid friendly options, and it is a very family friendly atmosphere. We had a very sweet little girl about 3 sitting behind us, and the waitress was so sweet and engaging with her.
Update; met Smokey Joe himself: totally AWESOME Dude. Yeah- folks here are totally Cool. Doubling down on the 5*s. A+++++Delicious BBQ- they offer a daily special- which is perfectly sized and a good easy order option. Will go back
