This place was phenomenal. Great food, service and atmosphere. It was our first time there and won’t be our last.

This was my first visit to Black Powder Smokehouse, but it will definitely not be my last! The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The food is superb! Best brisket in the area. I chose the Gouda mac n cheese.......wow! I highly recommend visiting Black Powder Smokehouse if you want a delicious meal. They also serve beer and wine.

Service during order pickup was nice...the manager gave me my order and provided extra bbq sauce when I asked for it. The food wasn't bad....but considering I told the manager I had a 2 hour drive ahead of me I would have loved for him to make sure everything was in the bag. Both orders of cobbler, a side of green beans, and a side of sauce was left out of the bag...about $20 worth of food. I called and left a message Saturday evening the same day because they are only open certain days and I sent an email via their website a few days later and I've heard nothing back regarding a refund. No response whatsoever. Costumer servixe is everything! Outside of this the Brisket was decent and the bbq sauce and fries were good.

I already did contact the website.......

First off, BPS has the best Mac & cheese I've ever had, hands down. 5 stars. The brisket is just okay and to me definitely not worth the $$$, but my family enjoys it from time to time. Would love to see Apple cobbler more often.

The main drawbacks for me are the following:
Customer service. It's not consistent AT ALL. I know everyone has a bad day, but nearly every time I go to the Asheboro location, I feel as though they are bothered by having a customer. Further, I ordered a "family size" Mac & cheese for Thanksgiving. I believe the serving size description was 4-6 people. It... Is... Not, unless 6 people are each getting one tablespoon each. The kicker is... It was $20+tx for it. I'm extremely disappointed. If you are going to continue to cater for Thanksgiving, the information needs to be clearer. In my opinion, this will serve 3.5 people at most. (You can see in the photo that it fits in the palm of my hand.)

Food was average, resturant building was small. They do not come to your table, you have to get your own food and beer. Fast food type resturant

Nice food and beer for meeting colleagues. But we were there in the evening around 18:00, it was little bit cold inside

Decent quality brisket, ok sides, professional service. Ample seating inside and out. Parking was totally insufficient. The restaurant wasn't even 1/3 full and parking lot was completely full. Had to park in the church parking lot.

I finally decided to give this restaurant a try and ordered online takeout. I ordered brisket w/ 2 types of barbecue sauce (the mop/ dip), tater tot casserole, a jalapeño cheddar brat w/ chili and coleslaw, and banana pudding. When I arrived the hostess at the first window cut me off to tell me to go around the corner to bar or something for pickups. First impression… the restaurant is pretty but her attitude wasn’t.
As for the food, the brisket was ok. There wasn’t too much flavor on its own even with that nice char on top. I tried it with the barbecue sauces. I’m not sure which was which as for as the mop or the dip. They were both runny sauces, not thick at all. I’m not sure if that’s North Carolina thing or not. One of those sauces was putrid and only got worse the next day. The other sauce I’d never like to try again either but it wasn’t as bad a the other. The brat dog was alright. I think it’s a north California thing the chili they put on meat so I don’t hold it against them. It was very spicy as expected but the chili was underwhelming. The tater tot casserole was delicious, by far the best thing I bought from my order. The banana pudding was ok, just a little too sweet. I also got seasoned fries, they were alright. Overall, I wouldn’t try this place again but at least I gave it a chance. I also read the restaurant/owner responses to low rated customer criticisms, they are interesting.
