Great spot in the heart of Kannapolis. The food was excellent as well as the service. Will be back!

The best atmosphere on West Avenue (initially) but overall what a disappointment. To present yourself as a sporty space, with two tiny TVs barely visible from the bar space (which was empty on one of the busiest service industry days of the year btw) and the off season of baseball, was such a disappointment. The bartender did not interact with us, we ordered drinks and an appetizer and after having to request napkins (she gave us COCKTAIL napkins not plates or rolls of silverware) she looked totally confused. The lack of training/management of the service staff was blaringly apparent. The app was ok, but the service made the entire experience cringey. We watched multiple parties come in and be disappointed with the sloooooow deer in headlights service and lackluster menu. As a frequenter of Kannapolis we were thoroughly disappointed with such a waste of an amazing space.

had the deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes for an appetizer both where disappointing. The eggs where probably made two or three days before, very little flavor. The fried green tomatoes tasted burned. The pulled pork was good the burnt ends where just ok and the Sausage was hard and over cooked hard to cut with a knife. Broccoli side was good. Cream sweet potatoes where sprinkled with lots Rosemary( I believe )and that needs to stop. They need to work on Quality control for sure. Might try again in the future but not for a while.

Incredible experience! Absolute must try!
First and foremost the food was unbelievable! You can clearly tell the chef had a lot of fun putting together this menu. From the N.Y. strip to the tavern burger or the deviled eggs to the chicken wings, you truly can’t go wrong. The only mistake would be not ordering dessert.
The staff could not have been friendlier. A special shoutout to the bartenders because the cocktails were fantastic! That said, with the restaurant’s connection to Cabarrus Brewing, you know the beer is top notch as well.
The view from the restaurant is phenomenal! Especially to watch a Canon Ballers’ game. There isn’t a better spot in the stadium to enjoy the game or just watch the sunset. Run, don’t walk to check out Towel City Tavern.

Our first experience at the Tavern was just after they had opened. It was ok. They have since re-vamped their menu and prices, so we gave them another chance. Glad we did! Dined again Nov 16th and what a great change! Better menu with sides being included in the price, and cheaper prices at that. Service was spot on and the atmosphere was fantastic. Others must agree as the place was packed, even at 5pm! Will definitely go again!

I made reservations for 6 people. We arrived and they said the table would be ready shortly. We grabbed a drink and then sat down. We ordered our food and it took about 30 minutes to get 5 out of 6 people's food. Some of the 5 were missing items from their order. The last person waited almost 30 minutes after all the food was delivered before he got food. We had to repeatedly ask for his food. He was told they were out of one meat he chose, then another, and then finally just brought something out.

The experience was horrible. Everyone was either done eating or their food was cold from waiting for the last person to get their food. The table next to us got here before us and they still did not have their food after we finally got all of ours and finished. Not a good experience at all for two of your tables tonight.

NOTE: They did comp the meal but we will be hard pressed to visit again.

Great atmosphere, but the food is not that good. Between our table, we ordered smoked chicken, pork, ribs, turkey, and brisket. All of it was very dry and didn't really have any smoke flavor. There were barely any seasoning on the fried green tomatoes. We had to ask for several sides of BBQ sauce so that we can get past how dry it was. Will stop back when there is a baseball game for drinks and social time, but will not be eating there.

Came here with my in laws and asked to sit in the back to have a view of the stadium. Was told by the host the manager doesn’t like to sit people back there because they don’t have enough silverware. I take walk to the back to go to the bathroom and our server, manager and probably a 100 utensils back there just sitting back there. #exposed.

Service was horrible. Food was underwhelming. Will not be back. Don’t waste your time here.

Had dinner there last night with family. The pork skins and beer cheese were really good. The pork sandwich with sweet potato mash and brisket sandwich with french fries were delicious! Our service was great also! Can’t wait to visit again to try other menu items!

Update: 11/10/2024 - although the portion sizes are better and the BBQ meats now come with sides. I will say it’s a step in the right direction however everything was still incredibly dry. It was also obvious that our deviled eggs had been sitting out a while because there was a hardened, dry layer on the outside of the filling.

I gave this place three tries since they just opened, but it hasn’t gotten better.

To get a decent portion of BBQ you’re going to spend over $30 for probably the driest brisket I’ve ever had. No sides with the BBQ, Tavern Burger is $17 with no sides.

I don’t mind spending a decent amount on a good meal, but hard to justify spending so much on sub-par BBQ when there’s other great places right down the road where you get more food for much less.

Drinks and staff are great, but food is just missing the mark.

October 2024: Our party had smoked turkey, pulled pork and chicken tenders. All the food was fabulous! They brew their own beer on site; we enjoyed the seasonal Oktoberfest. Our waiter, Gerado, was very friendly and attentive. We will come back!

Edited 11/9/24: We returned and service was still adequate but the food was a very different story from our last visit. They changed the menu and I was severely underwhelmed by it. Not sure if this was an off experience or if the last was, but today’s meal was subpar.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is really awesome. Lighting was great, bar is huge, unfortunately that’s about where my compliments stop.

We started with apps and ordered the hush puppies & deviled eggs. The hush puppies were OK. The deviled eggs were very bland and lacking in flavor.

Our table ordered the brisket, half chicken, jalapeño cheddar sausage & the tavern burger for dinner.

The brisket was the worst I’ve ever had from a restaurant that costs this much $$$

The half chicken was smoked or cooked for way too long. It was extremely crispy with no juiciness. The sausage tasted as if it had been frozen that morning, also very bland.

The tavern burger my wife got and she had to rush to the restroom before we even left the restaurant. It actually made her feel so sick that she didn’t eat or drink anything for a day.

Service was OK. We had a gentlemen who served us periodically but as we sat there for longer than 30min we saw him less and less. We would have to stop him to serve us a couple of times.

Whoever is reading this.. unless if some SERIOUS changes happen management and kitchen, do not spend your hard earned money on something so mediocre and expensive.

Gabriel was fantastic and went out of his way to find something for the picky eaters in our group! The food is fabulous and the view of the ballpark is awesome.
