Our first visit and loved it. Casual atmosphere and excellent food. We had oysters and the fried scallops both were excellent. Amazing pumpkin cheese cake.

I guess they call it Awful Arthurs for a reason. I had A fried seafood platter. Flounder, shrimp and scallops. The fish and seafood was way overcooked in old oil. The flounder was so dry. I could hardly eat it. The scallops for 599 extra were inadequate. As an appetizer, I had a dozen roll oysters two of them tasted like dumpsters, I think they were bad, but unfortunately, I swallowed them before the taste hit me. For a dozen oysters on a half shell, with a fried seafood platter and an iced tea it was $66. The quality of the food should be better for that price tag.

After eating our way thru OBX in October - Awful Arthur’s hands down falls within our TOP 5 BEST and MOST CONSISTENT year over year! We always get oysters… the more the merrier… and any fresh catch fried is on point. My husband is obsessed with their soups/ chowder (of all things) but they really are delicious!!! The service is always hustling and friendly, and the decor takes me back in time - in a good way. Long bar and decent size restaurant that can accommodate larger groups. I’ve only had great memories made with family and friends at Awful Arthurs. They definitely stand the test of time!

The shrimp is delicious here and went multiple times. I loved the cheese bacon fries a lot. The oysters were good, too. The frozen daiquiri was okay.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Fantastic Seafood Experience!

We've been visiting Awful Arthur's Oyster Bar every time we're in the Outer Banks, and it never disappoints! Here's why it's a must-visit:

- Ambiance: The moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm, nostalgic atmosphere. The fishing memorabilia and decor really set the mood for a genuine seaside dining experience. It feels like a cozy, local secret, even though it's well-known.

- Service: The wait staff at Awful Arthur's are not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. They make great recommendations and ensure you have everything you need promptly.

- Food: The star of the show! I had the fried grouper basket for lunch, which was an absolute steal at $12.99. The grouper was cooked to perfection - crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, served with fries and hush puppies. The crab & lobster bisque is a revelation; rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. We loved it so much, we took a quart home. And let's not forget the oysters - fresh, succulent, and simply the best raw oysters we've had.

- Value: The quality and quantity of food you get for the price is exceptional. It's rare to find such delicious seafood that doesn't break the bank.

- Overall: Whether you're a local or a visitor like us, Awful Arthur's offers an authentic taste of the OBX with its fresh seafood, inviting atmosphere, and top-notch service. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

If you're in Kill Devil Hills, do yourself a favor and stop by Awful Arthur's Oyster Bar. It's not just a meal; it's an experience that keeps you coming back for more!

We go to this restaurant whenever we are on the Outer Banks. The oysters are outstanding, and they have many great seafood options. They also have choices for those who don't like seafood. Be prepared to wait for a table if visiting during the peak season. We had no wait in October.

Mid October on vacation for a week. We ate 3 meals at Awful Arthur's, service was great, food was delicious. A little pricey. We are over 67 years old, offered no Senior discounts. With the large bar, it does get a little loud. Will be back to Awful Arthur's on next trip

Well worth the wait!
Sat at the bar and had a great time people watching and talking to the bartender.
Food was beyond fresh. Didn’t even trigger my shellfish allergy!
I’ll be back for sure!

Was an ok place to eat. I've had better cheeseburgers. It was really loud inside. Think it might have been to small for the number of people that they had in there. The service was great, though. The waiter was on it.
