Coffee Shop No. 409
Front Porch Coffee
Kitty Hawk, NC

The shop was big and there was plenty of seating for different activities; reading, working, chatting with a friend or just relaxing. The cortado was good; not the best nor the worst I have had on my coffee journey. But the service was not good. No pleasant greeting or smile. The baristas made me feel like I was bothering them. The place was not busy. Maybe they were having a bad day, but I like to remind my kids that a smile can make a mediocre experience spectacular and rudeness can destroy something special. Plus, I didn’t need a smile that day, but you never know what kind of day the customer behind me was having.

Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

Wish we had this coffee place in NY. Amazing lattes. If ever near a front porch which we visited 2 different locations we will always make it a stop.

Food is limited. They have pastries, yogurt bowls and coffee. Coffee is amazing. I had the tropical bowl and it was great and tasty.

Hot sugar free vanilla latte - 4/5 stars - nothing special about this, but still tasted good!

Spinach and feta pastry - 4/5 stars - flakey and flavorful! A great option if you enjoy the spinach & feta egg white wrap from Starbucks.

Cinnamon roll - 2/5 stars - if you want an ooey gooey cinnamon roll, DON’T get one for. Here. You’ll be disappointed.

Cranberry orange muffin - 3/5 stars - nothing special, but had the right flavors.

Service was lackluster. The staff didn’t smile and overall experience left something to be desired. Decent indoor and outdoor seating options though!

Support local!! We don’t do corporate chains or boring. Front Door Cafe KDH is neither!! When you see the contractors, landscapers, nurses & other locals getting their caffeine fix here you know you’ve struck gold 😁. Coffees were excellent, smooth taste, not too sweet and made to order. Fresh pastries and sweets was our final “proof 😉” we had found the top spot in OBX!!

If your looking for breakfast or a good view this is not the place. If your just wanting to run in on your way for work that might work. I didn't try the coffee so I can review it, but the bagel was awful. Also the cashier could not remember my order of 1 everything bagel toasted with veggie cream cheese, I repeated it twice for her and she still said plain cream cheese so I had to give my order directly to the girl making it. I guess some people just aren't good workers. All the other employees seemed friendly and very capable.

We eat here every summer. I watched the lady touching all the equipment and the phone. Then she grabbed the bagels with her bare hands. That's pretty gross. What's the point of trying to be clean and wash your hands before you eat if the person making your food could care less. I don't know if we want to come back here again ? it's too bad people are not taught better ediquite and cleanliness. Really upsets me. The banana muffins are delicious but makes me wounder if they are clean when they make them.

Vegetarian options: There are plenty of items that are vegetarian.

Dietary restrictions: Depends on what your dietary restriction is.

Parking: Free parking lot.

Kid-friendliness: It's kid friendly.

Wheelchair accessibility: Not a problem.

A beautiful end to a summer's day
At the Outer Banks, NC, where I sway.
The sun dips low, the sky turns gold,
Whispers of the 90s, stories untold.

Time feels fluid, a gentle bend,
As waves kiss shores where memories blend.
I'm in a time capsule, drifting back
To days of youth, on a faded track.

The breeze carries laughter, soft and light,
From distant summers, into the night.
Underneath the stars, I find my way,
A beautiful end to a summer’s day.

Headed home after a week at the beach, and stopped here for some morning coffee and pastries for the road. Friendly folks behind the counter taking orders and making espresso drinks. Latte's were perfect. Chocolate croissants and Apple cinnamon scones also fresh and tasty. Very nice little shop. Will return next time we are in town!
