Food is disgusting and expensive. Crab cakes are really salty with chunky bits, fried shrimp are not lightly battered like you’d hope for, it’s mountains of nasty batter coating a little shrimp. Fried green tomatoes nothing really special. They had the hostess being hostess and waitress. Go somewhere else.

So the food was fantastic and the waitress was really nice, but we sat at the bar and the bartender ignored us for the most part. I asked for water three times(with a reply of sure) and never got it until the waitress saw me choking and got it for me. We had to ask him for menus because we just kind of awkwardly sat there until we got them. He always had his back to us on his phone.Over all the food was fantastic, quick when we were finally able to order when we could pry him off his phone, and the atmosphere was nice, but it was ruined by feeling we were bothering the bartender. ?♀️ Not sure if I'll come back.

Great atmosphere. I really like the whole surfer thing. Lots of old relics liter the bar. Service was good. Place was rather empty so seating and parking was a breeze. We got their wings and they were awesome. I liked the sweet sauce (there was a hint of spicy) but the char was what made it. Good selection of local craft beers as well.

Last week we were in the OBX for our annual vacation. Second time we've been to the Bonzer Shack in two years. The same bartender was working, tall, muscular built man. Well, AGAIN this year, it was very apparent that he does NOT care at all about customer service. Last year this same bartender told us we couldn't get the signature drink called "The Bushwacker" because they didn't do that anymore and it was already last call. Before we got off the bar stools, another person walked in and said, "is it too late to get a drink?", the bartender said "yea, no problem". This visit it was 7:00pm, the only other person we saw inside was a waiter. Upon sitting at the bar, not even a "hello", just put a menu in front of us, then he turned around and got back on his phone. If I could have left zero stars, I would have. We will not be back, ever!

The Bonzer Shack is a great place to enjoy an authentic beach bar experience. The atmosphere inside is lovely and the staff is kind. With that being said, even being the only customers inside, service was still slow and brought us the wrong food. The food itself was decent. We had the Bang Bang Burger and the Bonzer Burger. Both were quite unique, but just okay.Overall, the Bonzer Shack is a lovely little bar with a broad menu and lots of different drink options. Service is alright and food is decent.Parking: Parking lot out front is more than big enough to fit a busy night of customers.

I had the grilled tuna with fries and slaw. The tuna could’ve been grilled a minute or two less, but was still very good. I ate outside. Even though there wasn’t supposed to be table service, the attentive server brought my food out. Dessert was house made key lime pie, so delicious—the right blend of tart and sweet. I’ll be back.
