The waitress was pleasant, but the food was disappointing. I stirred the carrot salad because it looked dry, and it was clear that it had been sitting at the bottom for a while—it was sour and tasted spoiled. Additionally, the restaurant appeared to be closed at night since there were no lights on outside, making it difficult to locate and enter.
Overall, the atmosphere and food did not justify the cost.

Arrived about 6:30pm and seated, waitress took our drink order and returned with them quickly. We placed our food order at approximately 6:35pm and went to the soup and salad bar. At approximately 6:55pm the waitress came to the table and informed us that she had gotten busy with the table next to us and forgot to put our order in the kitchen, she assured us that they were working on it and it shouldn’t be too much longer because we had ordered our steak medium. Waitress returns at 7:15pm (without food) and informs us that it will be a few more minutes because of a large party in the back room (that by the way placed their orders after us). We asked to speak to the manager, waitress informed us that he was in the back, she left and returned with the food and informed us that the manager was busy but said we could have a complimentary dessert if we wanted (manager never came to the table). As for the food steak was over cooked (not medium as requested but well done) baked sweet potato was room temperature. In the past I have recommended this restaurant many times, never again will I nor do I intend to ever go back.

we ordered the Queen's cut Prime Rib and it was one of the best I have ever had. Our waitress was on top of things, the food was great and we didn't have to wait

Best local country steakhouse we've ever been to. Steaks are perfect! Salmon is perfect! Salad bar is great! Service is wonderful, local young ladies. It simply can't be beat. Highly recommend. Been coming here for years and it's never gotten old.

Prime rib was nothing like i expected & disappointing. The baked potato was way over cooked & the salad bar was strange with shredded lettuce & hard to find other veggies etc to add to my plate. Not going back.

It had been awhile since we have been here and we always enjoyed the food. Now the prices have gone up and the quality of the food has gone down. No alcohol served so I wonder if someone else has bought and took over the restaurant. The clam chowder which I always loved was lukewarm and was mostly potato’s and even they were hard and undercooked. It’s a shame that such a great place has decided to change so much.

The food as always is absolutely delicious. The service is very good.I moved to Florida for a few years and came back to Kinston. My first stop was the Baron and Beef.I was absolutely shocked at the changes of atmosphere. I took all my dates there for the intimate atmosphere. Now it is so loud you bearly can talk with the people at your own table. It is way to bright .We want our old place back Kinston deserves at least one intimate dinning restaurant.

Food is fantastic, service is excellent, atmosphere sucks. This place used to a very enjoyable intimate dining experience. Now it open communal restaurant, no better than bojangles. I'm very disappointed in the remodeling of this establishment.

The salad bar and baked potatoes are excellent, along with the GREAT service. The prime rib is Aldi quality at best.

Was not what I expected. Not my style to have an open salad bar and way overpriced thin steaks.

I really don't know where to start.
We had reserved a room for our gathering...
The heat was out. It was 56° in this room.
The tables were all set up as if we were expected to endure this.
We had to move to the front.
The place basically feels like a funeral home without the smell of embalming fluid.
The toilet was nasty, ring around the bowl along with #2 stains.
The hot plate was not even hot. It was room temperature.
My steak was barely warm when it arrived. It had the texture of rubber.
The so-called clam chowder soup was like a fish stew without fish.
The salad bar was ok, but the plates are barely big enough for a cat to eat out
of.
The place just lacks attention to detail.
Don't waste your money or time.
I'll never go back

From the moment we walked into Baron & the Beef in Kinston, North Carolina, we knew we were in for something special. The ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for what would become one of the most memorable dining experiences we've ever had. But let’s talk about the steak. Oh, the steak! Cooked to absolute perfection, it was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor in every bite. The seasoning? Flawless. The char? Just right. It was clear the chef here is a true artist, turning a simple cut of meat into an unforgettable masterpiece.

The service was equally stellar. Our server was attentive yet never intrusive, anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. They made sure our drinks were always refreshed and that we were completely satisfied with every course.

Baron & the Beef is the kind of place where every detail matters, from the fresh, crisp salads to the decadent desserts that rounded out our meal. It's not just a restaurant; it's an experience. If you're in Kinston and looking for a dining destination that will wow your taste buds and leave you planning your next visit before you even leave, this is it. Five stars just isn’t enough to capture how amazing this place truly is!
