My son took us here when we visited. They give lots of food for what you pay, it was hot fresh and very good. The employees were so nice. Only complaint I wanted potatoe salad it’s what I ordered they gave coleslaw. Also dressing they ask what we wanted my son said one of each they gave us a lot of the same dressing, I really wanted bbq sauce they didn’t give any. But every thing else made the mistakes seem minor.

What's clutch I caught them right before they was closing I got 2 3-piece all white, with potato salad and baked beans, and pulled pork. The chicken was Seasoned all the way thru , the skin nice and crispy. The baked beans and potato salad was on point . The pulled pork was true to NC vinegar based BBQ sauce, and It was all luv. Wish I had gotten a bigger size. The Staff was very friendly and helpful, the price was reasonable. The atmosphere was clean and quiet. I went when they was closing. The actual place was clean. I will definitely be back when I come to that part of NC

I used the drive through (I had a coupon buy one platter and get one free) ordering 2 large shrimp platters with fries and slaw in one platter and Brunswick stew with baked beans in the other platter. The cashier looked at the coupon trying to make it burn up in flames, looked at me, looked back at me coupon and acted like he was typing the information when he finally said, I have to ask my manager if we are still accepting coupons and left. He came back saying that it was ok for me to use it. I specifically asked if they could/would put my fries and hush puppies in a paper bag ( otherwise they will become soft, mushy and limp as an old man’s mini me cooling quicker) because I was going to eat them on my way home to E.I. I was told sure Pictures attached to this review is what I received four platters with a child’s shrimp with one hush puppy in two platters. I ate one puppy and was going to put all of it into two platters when I noticed the hair in one of the platters and that is the actual amount of fries I received and they were in the platter just like pictured nice and soft with a nice limp to them. The shrimp are actually popcorn size and fried just right, however, I don’t want to eat anything else after finding the hair as it ruined my appetite. The fries and hush puppy I would’ve trashed and just ate the slaw and shrimp. I know it’s not BK and I can’t (didn’t) have it my way but I didn’t order a side of hair. I tried posting other pictures but the site wouldn’t allow me to, so I posted what was most relevant. I haven’t patronized Smithfields Chicken -N-BBQ for several years since China bought the franchise because the food actually makes me sick(Q and Chicken)

I noticed they went down on portion sizes, on bbq sandwiches but still the same price?This is manipulation of customers and I don't appreciate it . Only reason 4 out of five stars
Smithfield’s Chicken & Bar-B-Q in Kinston, North Carolina is like walking into a comfort food hug. From the moment you walk in, the smell of slow-cooked barbecue and fried chicken practically tackles you (in the best way possible). The chicken is always crispy, juicy, and seasoned just right, and that BBQ? Oh, it’s smoky, tender, and has that “I might need a second plate” effect. The hush puppies are dangerously addictive — I swear they disappear faster than a mosquito in a bug zapper.
We often stop by when D & D Pest Control Co. is out servicing customers in Eastern North Carolina, and it’s the perfect place to recharge. The staff is friendly, the sweet tea is exactly how sweet tea should be, and the portions are more than generous.
Big thanks to the crew at Smithfield’s for keeping the quality high and the flavors bold. You make our lunch breaks feel like mini-vacations, and that’s no small feat!

Well prepared BBQ plates with baby shrimp, slaw, fries, puppies and bread. Nice sauces and sides too. Good Ole sweet tea. Servers were well trained and professional. A lot of police officers eat there.
