We picked Appalachia at The Lodge (on Lake Lure NC) for two reasons. The Thanksgiving Prix Fixe menu had great choices for those of us who are not required to have turkey. And, we could book a room there after dinner and just enjoy a nice evening. We had the salmon and pork tenderloin dinners, both of us also selected the lobster bisque for appetizer and the homemade chocolate ice cream for desert. The food was bountiful and delicious. Our server was great and deserved the greater than 20% gratuity that we chose to include. We will come back for dinner in the spring and summer when we can enjoy the outside deck on Lake Lure.
Definitely worth the trip to stay at the Lodge on Lake Lure and eat at their Appalachia Restaurant!! We had their pork chop and the blackened shrimp and both dishes were perfectly cooked and a joy to eat. Their servers were busy but never stopped smiling and were very welcoming. A fabulous experience all around!!
Such a welcoming atmosphere before the Christmas rush! We enjoyed a wonderful meal and, as always, the service by Megan was excellent. The beet salad beats all other beet salads around. The vinagrette alone is a dive into brightness. The gnocchi dish was a standout. A favorite, the shrimp never disappoints. The fresh bread, a must in fine dining, and mouth watering compound butter is a glorious accompaniment or starter. My NY strip in a balsamic reduction was simply delicious. Homemade desserts make the perfect ending and, on the evening, we enjoyed chocolate cake with a whipped coffee icing. Appalachia wins our hearts again. Do not miss this gem in Lake Lure.
Sat in front of a beautiful fireplace with excellent food and 5 star service! Can't wait to go again.
The food was amazing. We had the Chefs daily specials. Service was timely, engaging but not overwhelming.
The dry-aged duroc pork chop, black-eyed pea succotash, and warm baguette with salted maple butter. olive oil, and garden herbs were all excellent. I will say that in all our many years of visiting the lodge and always the restaurant, Chef Seigle is the very best chef we have experienced. Lastly, the service was also excellent with an attentive but not overbearing staff. All of these things made for yet another great anniversary celebration involving the Lodge on Lake Lure.
We had a wonderful time. Great food and service, beautiful rustic decor. Lake Lure needs the support! Go visit!
Lovely setting overlooking the lake. We could have done without the (primarily) Johnny Cash music, but the service was good and the menu was interesting and servings plentiful. We'll be back to celebrate some other special occasion!
Mickla and Amanda was excellent serving! The chefs did an amazing job. This place never disappoints! Food, service and atmosphere is outstanding!
Appalachia at the Lodge on Lake Lure has become our favorite restaurant in Lake Lure! The menu, the service and the ambiance are all quite special. The Chef prepares some amazing dishes...everything, to my knowledge, is made from scratch with creativity and care. We look forward to our next time dining out!

Exceptional choices of exceptional food. Best prime rib steak I've had in this area. From appies to desserts, outstanding.
This is the best restaurant in western NC. Superb service. Lisa and her team never disappoint. Outstanding food. Kudos to Chef Tyler and his team. From the amuse bouche to the dessert, explosions of flavor. Mixologist at bar was phenomenal. Cheers to Lauren. We've eaten at Michelin starred restaurants in NYC and this wonderful gem is a fierce competitor. Magnificent views of our beloved Lake Lure. Another wonderful evening at Appalachian!
It was our anniversary celebration. Hubby had his Gin and tonic to start, the Chef sent us a complimentary appetizer of tortellini. I started off with a lemoncello Martini. Main course for hubby was the Prime Rib and I opted for the Scallops and grits. Both meals were superb. The sauces on both were excellent. The asparagus was cooked to perfection. The evening was a success in providing excellent service and top shelf meals in a charming atmosphere overlooking our still beautiful lake Lure!
I make reservations for Appalachia every time I go to Lake Lure and each visit is even better than the last! The food is phenomenal with a distinctly Appalachian flair. The atmosphere is upscale but unpretentious, and the view is stunning.
One of, if not the best meal we have had since moving to Western, North Carolina. Do not miss this fabulous restaurant with breathtaking views of Lake Lure and the Blue Ridge Mt's. It is truly a “dining”experience. This chef really knows what he's are doing. We cannot recommend it highly enough.....a hidden gem!
