Huge shout out to The Point of View. We had a big mishap at my work and they were able to accommodate about 25 people last minute. The guests came back from dinner and all had nothing but good things to say about the food and service. Thank you guys so much for saving the day.
When we arrived we were told that they require reservations, but they would fit us in. The whole time we were there I only saw one group come in with a reservation. They no longer have a prime rib special as shown in pictures on google. My Dad got the prime rib anyway and it was overcooked and grissly. My Mom got the trout and it was bland and full of bones. I got chicken parmigiana. It was edible, but nothing special. Will not go back. They were friendly, but the quality of food was poor and the prices were high.
The menu was interesting and unique. We ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms for appetizer which were excellent. fresh lake trout and prime rib. They both were delicious. A large choice of made desserts are offered, we tried the triple chocolate cake and the peanut butter pie, which were very good.
Vacationing at Lake Lure, NC, we came across a restaurant “Point of View” that had a beautiful view of the Lake so we decided to stop. The view from the deck is mesmerizing and even though it was lightly raining we opted to sit out there. I think the staff thought we were crazy, but a few minutes later it stopped raining! It was 3 of us and we were extremely satisfied with our choices. I had the Prime Rib with a medley of yellow & green sautéed squash. It was perfect. My daughter had pan seared trout and my husband had fried flounder. Both thought their entrees were delicious. We did not do dessert, we ate so much! We were happy we stopped and truly enjoyed the view. The staff was friendly and the manager/owner we presumed came out a few times to see how we were doing. That is always a bonus in my book!
Glad we ventured out and gave this place a try. Super nice folks, yummy food and a great view without a crowd or wait.
I have been to this restaurant multiple times and unfortunately the service and food are subpar; it is also way over price. I was there two weeks ago to give them one more try and unfortunately the service was horrible and many of the customers complained about the food and prices. I do not understand how the owner can not see it. It is unfortunate as they have a great view of the lake and mountains. Will never go back again.
This was one of the worst meals I have had in long time. There were only 2 cars in parking lot which should have been an indication of the restaurant. I ordered Chicken fried steak, which came with mashed potatoes and green beans. The beans were burned , not scorched, but burned black and greasy. The (mashed) potatoes were hard and cold. The steak and gravy were okay. I told the server how bad the veggies were and her comment was "well!" I normally do not comment on a restaurant, but this was an exception to Lake Lure/Chimney Rock dining.
We stopped by tonight 7/21/21, at 8:18 pm. Sign and internet said you are open until 9pm. Guest were inside eating. Unfortunately the front door was locked. Not the best business model if you ask me. Especially in a town that several restaurants are open and closed on various days (hence limited dinning options).Hope this helps future guests consider driving here only to be greatly disappointed.
I was honestly surprised that the lines to get in were not wrapped around the corner!! It was amazingly delicious!!
We stopped in as everything else in Lake Lure was crowded and we thought this was just 'too far out of the way' that people didn't know it was there. Sadly, it just wasn't up to par with what we were hoping we'd find. Rather than go into too much detail, I'll just leave it at that. On the bright side, the FRESH BREAD that they serve was absolutely amazing and Brandy, our server, was as kind as anyone could be. Ultimately, with such an amazing view of the Lake, this location deserves something better... I'd almost suggest that they reach out to Restaurant Impossible and invite Chef Robert Irvine to come out and overhaul it. I'd love to come back to Lake Lure in a year and see this prospering... Good luck Point of View!

Total hidden gem. Appears to be nothing special, but everyone at our table almost simultaneously spoke up about how surprisingly ah-ma-zing the food was. I can't remember all the plates, but I got the shrimp and grits. We also ordered seared tuna and coconut shrimp for appetizers and they were equally amazing. Our server seemed to be working by herself and we had to wait a while for our food but it was well worth it and she was extremely accommodating and nice.Pic is the view from the front.
They treated us like trash! The food had no flavor, the restrooms were nasty, the windows were so dirty you couldn't enjoy the view, the hostess was extremely disrespectful, our waiter had to be called on several times before he would actually look our way. The food was way over priced and not worth eating! They helped themselves to a $18.00 tip the next day on my card when I plainly wrote $0.00 for a tip. If you pay with a card make sure you check your account the next two days!!!
It was a great venue with incredible service and food. In fact it’s all good we are going two tonight’s in a row
We arrived at 8 without a reservation & we were lucky to be seated. The food was wonderful- fresh & homemade. They are understaffed due to the pandemic but graciously served us the best meal of our vacation.
The parking lot is confusing and small, we came in and didn’t feel welcomed. We were handed a very limited menu with only 10 things to choose from with the cheapest being 19 dollars. We were with a party of six and everyone got sick off of it. The prime rib was under cooked to the point where it was cold throughout it all. We decided to pay and take it home to fry it a little more but still wasn’t satisfied with the quality of the meat. The water is very good though.
