Another case of a family company that went for years making quality products and building a good name, only to be taken over by younger generations that ruin it. Used their axes for years and then the handles got so thin they break first use. After that they quit making an entire line of their long time original products. It's a shame how this happens to family companies when new generations only focus on bottom line and not quality or customers. Once a great North Carolina company just down the road from me. Wouldn't recommend their junk to anyone now!
I'm looking for information about this axe head I found in the woods . Other than " The Council Tool Co " stamped on it , I can't determine its age or even what type of axe head it is . And has " N° _12." Or " N° _17 stamped on it ..
I bought a maul from council tool and the handle broke while I was splitting wood and now I cant get a hold of them for a warranty claim, until they make this right I have to give them a bad review, if they reach out to me and make it right, I will edit this review
I was looking for a forged steel, double bit Michigan axe, and was looking at Gransfors Bruk, which makes excellent tools. The Gransfors is $450, where the Council Tool Co. sells for $92 MSRP. I purchased the Council Tool axe from BaryonyxKnife.com in Bar Harbor, ME, and with shipping they were still under Council Tool's MSRP price. It is an excellent axe for the money!
Fantastic axes.
