We traveled through Laurinburg on a Friday evening a little after suppertime. It was easy to find and plenty of parking. As we got on the lot, I noticed it was missing the smell of burning hickory, whispering to me "come inside." I had wanted to try a Smithfield's and this seemed to be a good chance. It's a chain like Dickey's, Maurice's or Mission BBQ.The establishment was clean and looked newly built. Just inside the door was a sink for washing up, which was pretty cool. I've never seen a wash up sink in the dining area of the restaurant done quite like this. The staff was very friendly and there was no line to wait in.If you know me, you know what I'm here for. I ordered the Regular Bar-B-Q Pork Plate, which included Pulled Pork BBQ, hush puppies, coleslaw, and potato salad. I also had sweet tea.Their BBQ is very good. I could taste the sauce in it without adding any. It was moist but not wet. I didn't see any bark, nor did it have a heavy smoky flavor. I also added their vinegar/ pepper sauce which is the way I preferred it. The sauce is heavy on the pepper flakes which gives it a great kick on the taste buds. My only regret was that the portion seemed a little small. (There is an option for a large plate and I would probably get that next time.) The coleslaw was also sweet and tasty, and had a perfect shred to it. Loved the hush puppies too. The potato salad was good but on the sweet side. The sweet tea wasn't bad but it had a very unique after taste that I wasn't used too. Maybe it was just that brew.I'd definitely come back. On the way out I noticed they sell their sauce in a gallon jug... maybe next time.
This barbecue chain is my favorite go-to place for good barbecue in Brunswick stew. The food is always consistently good, the service is always with a smile, and you can't be there iced tea! On this day I got mine to go. I ordered two of the large containers of barbecue and two of the large containers of Brunswick stew. I laughed when the girl said, let large container will feed three to four people. I just chuckled. Not at my house! And I will admit that when I went in to buy my to-go order, it smells so good I had to buy a barbecue sandwich for the road. Oh yeah, and don't forget to put slaw on it. It's really good!
The chicken was fried to perfection. The batter was light and tasty the potato salad was like my grandmother used to make. The slaw and hush puppies were excellent.The man who ran food to the table was swift and courteous. I sure wish there was one of these in Winston - Salem, NC. Three generation ordered differently, and all of us were delighted with our food.
There was no barbecue sauce on my barbecue sandwich. Just plain meat and slaw!

Not what we expected. Shrimp plate had the tiniest, breading encrusted pieces of shrimp ever seen. BBQ plate was dry, flavorless, pulled pork I have ever tasted. No choice of sauces offered at ordering, just a tasteless vinegar/red pepper infused, and a bottle of Texas Pete's and ketchup at the table. You would think Smithfield's would have some of what they are famous for. DRINKS! Styrofoam cup filled with chipped ice with no more than 4-5 ounces of product in the cup. $2.69!!! Sure they have people offering you a refill, but no self serve fountain station available to customers. Place was clean and staff was pleasant. Last time for us first time trying..
For a drive by sandwich it's really good. Cannot comment on the fries as I made it back on the interstate before I realized they forgot to put them in the bag.
