When we walked in, the place already smelled like trouble — a heavy burnt-bread stink in the air and not a single other customer during what should’ve been a busy hour. That should’ve been our omen.

The staff consisted of two women and a young man. One woman spoke so quietly she was basically inaudible. The other was clearly a trainee. The young man seemed to be the only one who knew what he was doing.

The trainee took our order. No modifications, nothing complicated — and she still managed to enter it wrong enough that the young man had to step in. Apparently it was too tangled for even him to fix, so they ended up ringing it in using some kind of hybrid workaround. Whatever.

Then I handed her a $50 bill (because yes, two sandwiches cost over $40), and she stared at it like I’d just given her foreign currency. The young man told her it was a $50 and that she needed to check it. She looked around for a pen; he told her they use a machine. He explained exactly how to use it — very simple — and went to prepare our food. She poked at the machine, shrugged, rolled her eyes, and just tossed the bill straight into the register without checking it at all.

So if you’re trying to pass counterfeit money, apparently this is the place. Take notes, Firehouse.

We both ordered the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar — a classic I’ve had at multiple locations for over a decade. It’s always been great… everywhere but here.

These were inedible.

First, they were ice cold. Not lukewarm. Not “cooled down.” Refrigerated cold. They’re listed as a hot sandwich. They’ve always been hot. Not here.

Second, the build was a disaster: almost no cheese, barely any BBQ, but enough mayonnaise to dress six sandwiches.

And the beef… I’ve never seen anything like it. Mostly fat, barely any actual meat. Imagine taking a bite of chilled grease, fat, and mayo. I nearly threw up.

We both tossed our meals after a couple of bites. At that point, complaining would’ve been pointless — if the staff can’t handle a $50 bill or grasp that a hot sandwich should actually be hot, there’s no saving the situation.

Never again at this location.

EDIT: Of course, thief solution is to talk to an AI bot, lol…. So, anyway….

Drove from Granite Falls to pick up my order. I guess I should’ve checked the bag. Missing sub. They would not answer the phone to talk to them. They suck!

The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because my food was good when I finally got it... Staff was very unprofessional... An off duty employee came in and was using the F word said it was OK she was off the clock... They were handing out call in orders and not even looking at the name on the ticket one lady had to bring the bag back twice because it wasn't hers. The lady who took my order was a nice young lady.

Drove right at an hour just to try the Thanksgiving Sub. Upon arrival the two employees that were there seemed very friendly, so I thought this is going to be a good experience. Absolutely not, when I ordered the Thanksgiving sub the guy making the sub asked the cashier if they had enough turkey because they were almost out the day before, in which she responded I don't know, and she was new to the job. Then I ordered the Italian sub, and with both subs I asked for all the dressings to be put on the side since we had so far to get back home that way the bread wouldn't be soggy. While waiting on my food an employee and what looked like her boyfriend came in and out several times while she was on break. She was not happy with the guy there that I assume was her boss and let it be known in front of everyone. And needless to say when we got home all the dressings were on the subs and mine had very little turkey, mostly stuffing and bread. And oh yeah the gravy that I bought 2 of for 1.00 extra each had 2 tablespoons of gravy per bowl. Am I disappointed and pissed? Absolutely, to pay over 30.00 for 2 twelve inch subs and get home with that was uncalled for and ridiculous. Use to be my favorite sub shop but not now. Horrible experience. This place is awful 😖

This was probably the first time I'd ever been that I was just as impressed with the service there as I was with the food.

Subs are real good. Hot sauce bar was a bit unkempt, but that'll happen throughout the work day. Staff was friendly.

Great sandwiches and excellent service! Have visited many firehouse sandwich shops. This one stays the closest to the original I. Jacksonville Florida. Highly recommend!
