Harts General Store and Creamery

The ice cream and desserts are delicious, and my kids have so much fun watching the animals and playing on the big see-saw outside. The brownie sundae is ridiculously good and worth the drive.

Sweet place to get ice cream and coffees plus a general store. The proceeds support their animal refuge, and there are ducks, chickens, turkeys, and goats on the site. A general store offers hand crafted art such as framed art, fiber art, jewelry and pottery. Cool barn style building with seating on 2 levels.

Harts General Store and Creamery is such a special place. It’s family-owned, and you can really feel the love they’ve put into it. There’s a great playground for kids, lots of space to roam, and the land is just beautiful. The barn has the best homemade ice cream, and there are farm animals you can pet and feed — the rescue horses were my favorite, so sweet and gentle. Inside the barn, they also have local vendors selling handmade items like hats, pottery, and clothes. It’s the kind of place you want to keep coming back to. Super friendly, relaxing, and fun for all ages.

Take the kids/grands here for a piece of history, interesting props, farm creatures, play items, nostalgic stuff and delicious delicacies! Always friendly service, very clean and welcoming. This is between Taylorsville and Lenoir, easy to find, check the google page for operating seasons/hours before making the drive.

Went on Sunday evening on the way home. Only one young girl was there to wait on us. Took 35 minutes to get ice cream for 4 adults and five children. Very hot!! Ice cream was excellent but they were out of my first three picks. Young girl was very nice and doing the best she could. She did say well you did visit on our busiest day of the week. I asked well, if this is your busiest day why are you the only one working and why not have the ice cream in stock? She did not have an answer for me. When she handed me my ice cream it was already soft and melting. We have stopped by here several times and I have never been impressed. Go to Lenoir or taylorsville. This place is kind of neat but there is no place to escape the heat and actually cool down and enjoy the treats.

This hidden gem is worth exploring. Our family showed us this local favorite. The ice cream was great, service was on point, the atmosphere was one of a kind, and the animals out back roaming made it even better since we had a child with us.
