The café was closed, although the posted hours said it was to be open. Employees were inside, but would not come to the door. Yep other carloads of people experienced the same. Looked like a nice place, but we were not able to experience it. A brief explanation would have gone a long way.

It was closed despite Google’s hours. Would have loved to stop here for a bite before hitting Grandfather Mountain. Not much around between here and Linville Gorge.

Went at 11:15am on Tuesday and the spot was closed. No lights on, no staff in sight. Call before making the drive.Another person also drove up and discovered it was closed.

Amazing food, great service. I work in the area and there aren't many places to stop for a really good sandwich and a nice coffee. I stop here every chance I get. The owner is really cool and his employees are really nice.

I visited Little Deer Cafe a couple of years ago while visiting Sugar Mountain. I absolutely enjoyed everything about this place. The pastries and lattes were so delicious, and so were the sandwiches. I don't typically opt for sandwiches, but this cafe makes them with bread that they made from scratch, and it really makes the sandwiches shine. Their focus is on delivering classic items and delivering them well.I had such a memorable experience there that I even had the owner recently cater our small family wedding (through Davin Underwood catering). He truly delivered and put a lot of time and effort into doing so. My family members enjoyed talking with him, and we could all see that he is passionate about his craft. They loved the food so much that they took most of the leftovers home, which is unfortunate for me, but I am looking forward to visiting Linville again to revisit this cafe. :)

An adorable cafe, with local art available for sale. Service was slow, but well worth the wait. Had the best sandwich ever. Try the “grown-up grilled cheese,” it was SOOOO good! I also recommend the “honey bee latte”. Bonus: It’s Pet friendly!

I really wanted to love this place because the staff was nice and the place was quaint but MY GOD was the execution of the place at fault. No customers were there upon arrival and it took 40 minutes for a sandwich and cup of soup which tbh wasn't worth the wait. The communication amongst staff about the menu was lacking so the person taking our order told us one thing, the person making the food told us another and we weren't the only ones. No deviled eggs, no proper cups for the coffee, no lids that fit any of the cups given, no napkins. In addition to waiting so long, another older lady they knew, maybe a friend or owner I'm not sure, came in a bit after us and her entire order was prioritized before we ever received our coffee. I respect the place for a locally owned business but maybe some extra prep of staff and materials is in order. Will not be coming back

Charming café we stopped at while traveling through the Linville area. The flavor profiles of the sandwiches in particular were surprisingly sophisticated while utilizing simple and classic ingredients. I savored every bite! Absolutely fantastic. What a delightful gem.

Live in the area and have never been to Little Deer Cafe. And, I won't go now after reading the reviews. The food sounds great but the owner's rude retorts to criticism is enough reason not to support this business.

If you want homemade hot sandwiches, you need to stop here. Food is great, the owner is nice and helpful. They even gave us cookies while we waited. Nice gem after leaving grandfather mountain.
