The rotating menu always gives me something new to try. The food combinations are always surprisingly delicious!
Best food ever! Chef is wonderful and clearly works hard to ensure the menu is both creative and well balanced for all tastes and preferences.
Reid's NEVER disappoints. This is the best dining in western NC. The chef's attention to detail and taste is outstanding.
We have eaten at Reid's since they opened. The food is always good. The ambiance is great. However, the service has been good 50% of the time and ok 50% of the time until last night. Last night we had a server who was the absolute worst we have ever had anywhere. He was simply put, mean. He was beyond rude. My wife never complains about anything. She wanted to leave the second she asked if the wine could be cooler than it was. The male waiter said in a hostile tone, “It has been stored in the refrigerator and this is a cooler. Here feel it” as he shoved it in her face. I quickly tried to diffuse this by simply asking him to go ahead pour as it looked great. The tone was threatening and this lasted for the rest of the meal to the point my 87 mother was afraid to ask for anything. He said he has been at the restaurant for two years. However, none of us have seen him before and we have been there frequently, again since the restaurant opened. The situation was so bad the waitress working the floor came over and said how sorry she was and proceeded to remedy the situation as much as she could. The meal was $400.00++ with tip for three people, a bottle of $70.00 wine, and not much food. We are sad to report we will not be going back until we hear from our friends things have improved. We will be checking as we are hopeful the owners will remedy their issues.
I felt the menu was small with very little choices. I also thought it was overpriced for the type of restaraunt it was. For example, I don’t think they should charge $70 for a bone in steak since this is not a steakhouse or $40 for a fish plate.
Before eating, be sure to look at the menu before entering. On a good note. The staff was nice and the restaraunt was clean and quaint.
I have tons of food allergies and the chef and server were terrific in helping me negotiate a wonderful, delicious dinner.
Always, and I mean always, a pleasure to dine at Reid's. Our food was delicious! Reid's continues to delight and surprise us with creative, fresh, local menus. The presentation of the food, the service and the ambience at Reid's alone is worth the trip to this gem. Some people may question the value of a meal at Reid's. It can be an expensive place to dine. However, the value is there. Plus, I could make a meal out of one of the appetizers and desserts and be quite happy and full.
We used Reid's to cater our NC Mountain wedding and it was absolutely incredible! Their team was so easy to work with and incredibly accommodating with a couple of tricky dietary restrictions. Their attention to detail was amazing and we got so many compliments from our guests about the food and service. If your looking for a caterer for your event, hire Reid's!!
We have eaten many meals at Reid’s cafe over the past 7 years, each of them ranging from very good to outstanding. But last night, I had the grilled lamb tenderloin with lentil rice fritters and a creamy yogurt sauce. I’ve eaten at many 5 star restaurants in my years on earth, all over the USA and other countries. I can’t remember the last meal I’ve eaten that was PHENOMENAL. This was that. The meat was the most tender bite, grilled, seasoned to perfection, served with flavorful fritters that were portioned so you had one for each strip of meat, plenty of the 2 delicious sauces to go on top. Literally perfect in every way. I raved the entire way home. We are so lucky to have this little gem of a restaurant!
Phenomenal food from top to bottom of the menu and great service as always! We love this place!

Very nice meal with great service. Lamb was one of the best I've had. It was so enjoyable to have such an amazing meal with excellent service.
Great service! Cocktails very nice. Oyster app was great and mains were delicious. Only problem was when they tried to convince me that cream curdling in my coffee was normal...say what? Other than that, we always enjoy Reid's. Best food in Banner Elk area!
Incredible food and wonderful service. Our first time there and we will definitely be back. The oysters on the half shell were delicious and obviously fresh - seriously better than oysters you find at many restaurants closer to the coast. The pasta dish was incredible as well. Would love to see some natural wines on the wine list when we come back!
My husband agrees, this of the best meals we've eaten in years. His filet mignon was perfect, as was my son's trout. My wedding soup, beet salad, and chocolate mousse were to die for. 10 start if I could
Excellent food. Reid's was a pleasant surprise. We headed out yo dinner after skiing. The setting was very nice and the service was outstanding. Try the crispy chicken.
