I actually liked the food here but the service was so bad that I need to provide a low rating. I don't expect much in terms of service, but this place was really bad. If you aren't a regular then it seems like you are a 2nd class customer.

Good food at a reasonable price. We favor the breakfast menu. We have been here several times and been satisfied each time. It can get crowded and that can slow the service but that's due to it's popularity. There are some condiments that are typical at other places that we were told had to be asked for specifically but that is not a huge issue for us. It is my wife's first breakfast choice when we have the opportunity. Ca$h i$ King!

Grew up in Boone near seven devils and come back early. ever since grandfather restaurant closed I've been looking for another place that's decently priced has amazing food cooked correctly and has exceptionally friendly service. My parents vacation back here also suggested this restaurant for the everyday breakfast. I was not disappointed maybe a 10-minute wait to eat And there was a lot of seats open when we finally got set down which i didn't understand that but ..
That being said. I am very picky about my breakfast. Eggs over easy HAS to be perfect. Pancakes have to be perfectly cooked. Same for hash browns and bacon. They did nail all the food and would highly recommend their blueberry pancakes! Eggs were perfectly cooked as was the hash browns not soggy/oilly at all.
The service seemed a little understaffed and running hard. I think I saw three servers for the entire place two were extremely nice boisterous and would carry-on conversation with anybody. We happen to get the one that look like she was having a bad day which is understandable If they were understaffed it's just we only got our water filled once when it was set on the table. Had to ask another server for a couple of things we needed like butter. That doesn't change my mind about this place I will be back it is my new daily morning breakfast if I'm there for 5 days I'll be eating there 2 or 3 of those 5 days for sure.
The price was not horrible I would say for the quality of food that I got, not that it was pretty it was just very well cooked, I'd have no problem paying this often to eat there.
Bacon. You can tell it's good quality bacon from the flavor just if you like your bacon crispy make sure you ask for it 😉

Perfect place to get breakfast. Old school charm with Scottish accents. Gott a western omelette both days and the service although a bit slow the staff was friendly and would definitely go back there again.

Just a breakfast place. Mine was fine but my golf partner didn't enjoy his biscuits and gravy. Service is good. Not a go out of the way to eat place but I think the locals enjoy it.

This place is masquerading as a restaurant!!!...NO Service, rude employees, and a hostess that doesn't even know IF lunch is available!!!...We waited nearly 20 minutes while other customers had a waitress as soon as entering... Bizarre, unprofessional, totally RUDE experience!!!... Please don't bother!!

I can't say anything about the food as we were never served.. We were sat then no wait staff ever came to wait on us. Several servers passed us by but never stopped at our table. We were there at 11:00 they were not busy, had many open tables. After we sat there for 20 min and asked the host about getting us waited on..they brought another family in sat them directly behind us and a waitress went to thier table immediately! We then left. I won't be back. Lack of service is just ridiculous!

Tartan restaurant was great. Not too many places in the mountains so it was appreciated. It was super busy, but the servers were hustling and we didn’t have to wait long. The food was good. Would have been nice if the music volume was a little lower.
Great little spot for lunch. Had the Reuben and it was delicious!!!

It was great. Looks like a tiny place when you first walk in. Don't worry, it's not. The food was amazing. I got the ghost pepper burger. It was not as hot as I was expecting but tasted amazing. Can't wait to go back.

Had biscuits, gravy, eggs, bacon and grits. Cheesy grits! Top 5 grits I’ve ever had! Biscuits were good but not as tall & fluffy as I prefer. Sausage gravy was more of a brown eye gravy—not bad but not my preference. Service was great! Prices quite reasonable. Definitely would go again.
