T. DiStefano's Bakery & Coffee Shop

Stopped in here on our recent travels in the area to see family. The mini cinnamon crumb cake was delicious, I wouldn't say it's the go to place to get an espresso based drink. Overall, the people who waited on us were nice and seems to be a good local stop for baked goods.

Mebane is a haven for chains, so it was a pleasant surprise to find this small independent bakery so close to all the national retail. It reminded me of Amoroso's in Greensboro albeit with a more limited selection. That said, everything that was in stock - cakes, cheesecake rolls, traditional Italian desserts, and more - looked appealing. The woman working the counter was patient while I looked everything over.

In the end, I opted for a cannoli, and it proved to be a good decision. Even after the drive home, it was still tasty.

Mebane is far from the first place that comes to mind when you think of Italian bakeries, but if you're out this way and looking for one, Distefano's is the first name you should think of.

Have been going here for years.. they have changed a lot since I was here last year. Previously they had all kinds of fresh baked items, bread and donuts. Everything you could smell reminded me of bakeries when I was young up in New York. Now it is more of a modernized Cafe. The smells are not
there and they were explaining to me that unfortunately do the rising cost of everything. They are not able to give us donuts and some other items that they previously had at reasonable prices. Still a great place to go for some pastries and pies

While it leans more toward a bakery than a coffee shop, the coffee was surprisingly good.

The cream puff was generously filled with a delicious cream, but the pastry itself was a bit disappointing. It seemed to be a day or two old, resulting in a slightly soggy and deflated texture of the puff pastry.

Staff are incredibly kind! I was surprised as how good the lattes here are. They offer some of the most attractive cakes between the Triad / Triangle. Pastry selection varies often and is always good.

I got 6 different things to try and every single thing I got was AMAZING. .... It took me a bit to finish everything and even several days later it still tasted amazing and fresh. Can't wait to try EVERY SINGLE THING. ...I think the person that helped us is named Summer, so kind and knowledgeable : )

There were only me and another couple. While the employee finished up with the couple. Another couple walked in. I was already in the building.
Walked out. Did not buy anything.
Should always ASK who is Next in line.
If you are not sure. By the way you walked by me Twice. And still asked the new customers in line.

This bakery is one of Mebanes’ most delicious gems❣️ They have THE BEST key lime pie!! It’s a confectionery masterpiece!
