Absolutely love the food, however! The way they serve tables is just not effective and kind of sloppy. We had to stalk people for a table (weird) and when we finally snagged one, nobody came to clean it off from the previous customers for over 25 minutes. After 15 minutes my boyfriend alerted one of the staff members (who was clearly stressed out, bless her heart) that whenever they get a chance if they can clear our table and grab us some drinks. She said she was busy and she would get someone on it. 10 more minutes go by, people who got there 15 minutes after us were getting drinks and ordering. We flagged down someone else and he said he was “doing something” and couldn’t help us. We got up and left, it was sad because we love the food but usually go to lunch in hillsborough when it’s not busy. Please please please just have servers assigned to tables like normal and have a hostess to seat people, especially at this location. Clearly staff is not able to handle the current dynamic when it’s busy. Still giving 2 stars because we do love Wooden Nickel. I will still be back and hope it’s better and will definitely change my review if it is!

It was good till it wasn’t. We’ve been several times. The first few times we were pretty impressed. Food was great with a fun unique menu and causal atmosphere. We can respect the casual vibe and rotation on the waitstaff as I used to work at a place that was very similar. That last time we went, we didn’t have the greatest experience with the food and when we asked the waitress about something that seemed off, she was very dismissive and never came back to our table. We went about our meal and just moved on-they could’ve just been having an off day. We gave it another try last night, and I’ll say we unfortunately will probably not go back. We have a heart for local restaurants and root for them all the way. Our food came out wrong, greasy, and overcooked. After picking off the ingredients that we had asked to be left off-we still found the food to be sub-par especially for the price of $16 per sandwich. The kicker was that the waitresses seemed to just drop our food and never checked on us even though we were visibly not eating our food. They brought the check over and never acknowledged any issue. We paid for our meal but we were avoided even though the restaurant really wasn’t that busy. It was pretty obvious that no one wanted to address any problem. Could be just another off night. Hopefully so, but we won’t be going back.

The waiter was personable, just there long enough to do his job without lingering. They did not make my wings crispy as I had requested but the flavor was good. I will go back on half price wing night

The food is always amazing.. circulated beer menu so always something new to try on draft. Im not hard to please and I know it happens everywhere but they stay packed most nights at dinner, especially weekends and if they're short staffed, the service kinda sucks but It happens. The food is always worth the extra wait.

Kelly & I, along with our friends visited the new Mebane location. Chef Brodsky and staff were fabulous. The appetizers were awesome: onion rings, fried peppers & loaded tater tots. Hot, fresh and loaded with flavor. The threesome could have been our meal. Appetizers were supported by an impressive groups of local brews & ales; great wine list and full bar service.
Our meals were well prepared with great presentation & flavor profile. I had catfish bowl with tasty veggie sweet potato bed. Kelly had the chili which looked enjoyable. Our friends enjoyed both the buffalo wrap & fig Brie burger.
Wonderful time and atmosphere for a nice price. We will definitely be back for more of the menu.
