Updated menu with great specials. Atmosphere is relaxed, clean, and comfortable. You can drive your boat up to the dock and walk in! Family friendly.

I can't say enough good things about Occano/Scotch Hall! We traveled there from Raleigh, NC. The golf course was exceptional (as were some of the views), the inn was spectacular, the food and drink were on point; but, the best part of all was the people!! Everyone from Chad, Charlene and the rest of their staff served us like kings! We had played another course prior and unfortunately had left a range finder on one of the carts - the staff at Occano made arrangements to go and get the range finder for us! When they heard that one of us were sponsoring a golf tournament for their special needs son, they were quick to want to help out with sponsoring a team. They really catered to our foursome and made us feel like we were a bunch of A-listers - really top notch service... We will be back - don't hesitate, book with them now, you'll be glad you did!
We had a great experience with our stay at the cottages and the Inn at Occano. We stayed in the Chowan cottages. Very comfortable and convenient for our large crowd. We also had a room at the Inn and it was very nice and comfortable as well. The golf course was fantastic. Best layout in eastern North Carolina. What can you say about hole 17. Arguably, the prettiest hole in NC. Greens were in great condition and you can tell improvements have been made to the bunkers and there was fresh sod in certain areas.
Rooms at the Inn are beautiful with a large open space in the middle for watching TV, meals and playing cards....located on one of the most breathtaking pieces of property in North Carolina...great Arnold Palmer golf course with views of the Albemarle Sound and great stargazing at night...wonderful get away location, , ,
We rented a villa three nights and two rounds of golf. Everyone enjoyed the house--very clean with a big kitchen and roomy back porch overlooking the course. We also had a great time at the bar/restaurant where the staff was super nice! Will definitely be back!
a group of us stayed in the Inn for a weekend retreat and meeting. The Inn was the right place to be, close to our homes and yet its atmosphere is like you are in another State. The grounds were well kept, the staff and neighbors were fantastic. The restaurant had the best wings we had eaten, and the price could not be beat. The pictures we took ha everyone asking about this place. GREAT STAY
We had a group of 20 on a buddy trip and we had a great time! A wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle. The Arnold Palmer course was in great condition! Chad at the pro shop and Lindsey in lodging made sure everything went smoothly. The staff at “The Shed” did a very good job with the food and hospitality. This is my fourth visit with different groups and each time it has gotten better!
We had 4 couples with a Sunday check-in and a Tuesday checkout. The guys played golf on Sunday and Tuesday at Scotch Hall and at another local course on Monday. The girls toured Edenton and hung out at the very comfortable Inn. No doubt about it - everything is at least half an hour away. But the accomodations are great and we thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet. Hard to beat a cool night, starry night sky, a firepit, and good friends. The course is an Arnold Palmer gem, wide fairways, tricky greens, and some great views of the Albemarle Sound and some deer too. The traps need work and sand but that's about the only part of the course that wasn't in good shape. There's coolers with ice and bottles of water placed in several places on the course The restrooms are clean. The staff was helpful and pleasant across the board. This is a fantastic place to kickback. They have Direct TV and WiFi ... but broadband is limited. Better to read a book or ebook than steam video. Bottom line ... Great place but remote enough you néed to plan ahead because if you forget something back home you'll spend a lot of time going somewhere to replace it.
Myself and 2 friends met for a single night and round of golf. Accommodations were superb and golf was outstanding. My only regret is that we did not stay two nights! What a great place we will certainly be back!
Highly recommend . Staff really nice to work with and very friendly. The golf Course in excellent condition and is very demanding. Wonderful scenic layout . Traps in places were rough but I have played on worse. Staff extremely friendly and treated us like we were members. Staff told us all the traps were going to be renovated soon. Don't let the traps concern you. You shouldn't be in them anyway. Lindsey who was the booking person, was wonderful. She worked with our group and when we had to cancel due to bad weather , she let us change our dates with no problem. We even got a call when we were half way there about the weather. Accommodations were the best. Food in restaurant was excellent and staff there was also great. These people know how to make you feel wanted. I guarantee our group will be back... Edenton 20 minutes away for more restaurants.

The condition of the course is adequate, but the bunkers are unplayable. The amenities are either substandard (pro-shop, bar, carts, pool) or nonexistent (fitness center, lounge, front desk, towel service, trash service). The Chowan Villa comfortably sleeps 3-6 but that’s about it. There is no cleaning crew to re-stock toiletries, towels, or make beds. There is not a washing machine or dyer and guests must deliver their own trash to the dumpsters or face a fine. To be fair, some of this may have been disclosed in the fine print which we all missed. The lack or service is surprising nonetheless. If you simply want to golf, the course is fine, just nothing special. Unfortunately, I will not return and can’t recommend as there are not enough positives to out weigh the several negatives.
The accommodations were perfect for our purposes. Clean, well presented, and comfortable. We loved the golf course and the friendly atmosphere. It was a very comfortable place to stay. I would highly recommend this facility.
This place was a perfect location for my Bachelor Party. Everyone from the clubhouse to the bar/restaurant was friendly and accomodating. We'll definitely be making this an annual trip. The course itself was also something I wasn't expecting. It was in fantastic shape!
First time with play-and-stay at Scotch Hall....planning now for a fall return! Everything was handled professionally and with “Southern Charm” and that includes prior, during, and after. We didn’t run in to ANYONE working there that wasn’t outgoing, friendly, and helpful. The course layout is great and the condition of the course was really good given the heat/dry weather this time of year. The accommodations were top notch and obviously well maintained. To be honest, the eating venues are few but what’s there is really good and more than fair in regard to cost. Very highly recommend...it’s not “fancy” but it’s hometown friendly and comfortable.
This was our 1st trip to Scotch Hall but it certainly won't be our last. This was a pre-trip for a larger outing that we had booked for September. We had 7 guys staying in the Capehart house which provided Top Notch accommodations for us all. The house was clean, beautifully decorated, very comfortable beds, and had everything you could possibly need. The golf course was in fantastic condition even though the greens were just aerated (which we were advised of when we booked the trip). The Shed had good food at great prices and the staff was very friendly. This is one place you won't be disappointed with. We are already planning for our trip there next year with 20-24 guys!!!
