This is the first time we eaten here in several years. My wife had fried chicken and I had fried shrimp. The shrimp tasted bitter because of the salty preservatives used. You could not taste the shrimp. However the Brunswick stew was delicious. My e was not satisfied with her chicken because it was over fried to the point of being tuff!! I would not recommend!

I saw this place like a year ago while i was driving through this small town and stop to tried it but it was close, so finally i had the chance to tried it and i was not disappointed, i like to try different places when comes to NC BBQ and this is one of the of the best places that i ever tried. It is small restaurant but pretty good food, i like the unique shape of the hush puppies they look like onions rings, the sandwich was little small compared to other places but it was good, stew delicious, cabbage very flavorful, I definitely will come back another day, it is a little bit of a drive but i think is worth it.
We used to frequent Doug Sauls BBQ almost weekly. Even after Covid, we would take out from there. Life intervened and we did not get go back until today. We had read terrible reviews for one of our favorite eating spots. We found them hard to believe. We ate there today for lunch and it was like going home. We were welcomed and recognized as those who "used to come about every week!" So glad we went back. My fried chicken was as good as ever as were my cabbage and potatoes. My husband, a seafood junkie, had oysters and shrimp that were very good too. We will be starting our weekly dining there again!
