My husband and I are from out of state and came here looking for a BBQ place that was not a chain. Carolina Barbeque is just that. It’s kind of dive place and we aren’t BBQ enthusiasts, so keeping those in mind we thought the food was pretty good. The young man taking our order was great. We ordered a pulled pork plate with fries, fried okra, and hush puppies as well as a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and potato salad. The pulled pork was good, especially with the sauce....
Holy cow! Can you create a similar place in Burnsville, please!. Probably the best fried chicken I've ever eaten in my entire life. I mean it! Unfortunately for me, it's a journey to get up to Avery County, but whenever I'm headed north past Spruce Pine, I say to myself, "what the heck, I'm gonna stop there for sure."

Carolina Barbeque misses the mark despite decent food and average prices. The menu lacks a distinct identity, blending various cuisines without excelling at any. The ambiance is lackluster, with dirty floors and uninspiring decor. Staff behavior is unprofessional, with excessive cussing and loitering. While the food is edible, it lacks the bold flavors and unique touches that make great BBQ memorable. Overall, Carolina Barbeque fails to leave a lasting impression.
