I am ashamed to say it, but I’ve driven past this restaurant many times and only went there last night for the first time. All that said, we will now become regulars. We were a party of three. I started with Thai duck wings and they were very tasty. My wife had our friend shared fried green tomatoes and they too enjoyed them. My wife ordered the Prime Rib and she liked it. Our friend and I ordered the trout and it was delicious. Since the county is dry, we brought a bottle of wine ($12 corkage). We completed our meal with a Mississippi Mud Slide and it too was very good. That combined with excellent service means we will be back and we will recommend this restaurant to our friends.

Had my birthday lunch here. Fun atmosphere. Turned an old garage into a restaurant. Started with fried green tomatoes $6.99 (not pictured) with hot honey drizzle on the side. Fried fish (flounder) good-sized portion with slaw (bland) & fries $14.95. My grilled trout was a very small thin piece for $15.95, but it was tasty. The bacon greenbean side was pickled (vinegary). Tiramisu was incredible $8. Service was decent for a busy Friday lunch. The back dining room was warm. The back dining room would have a nice view of the creek IF they would put the tables and chairs up on a rise. Lots of parking out back.
Had dinner last night and it was amazing. The prime rib was cooked perfectly. This is our go to spot when we are in town and it is always delicious and excellent service.

We eat here on pretty much every trip to Newland. Always enjoyable and good food, but it gets busy for that reason. Sometimes you have to wait a bit, but it's usually not too long. We don't mind since we like the local food. I usually end up with something from the specials board, but we've also had regular items from the menu. All good! We'll be back for sure.

At dinner on August 21, 2024 I ordered the smoked trout platter, which was one of the priciest items on the menu. I was very disappointed with the small portion size of the smoked trout. They made up for the very small fish portion with an overabundance of french fries. I could've gone to McDonald's for a meal of fries. My wife's meatloaf portion was large and good as I ate a significant portion of it. I have heard too many horror stories about what chefs do when food is sent back as unacceptable, so I did not send it back, but we did complain to the cashier when we paid the bill. The portion was so small that any decent chef would not have sent it out. A good restaurant otherwise.

Food was good. I just wish that the crab cakes came with more than one thin crab cake. Update: Very good coconut cake! Smoked trout platter was good. Slaw is cut thick which I like, and the trout itself was great. I substituted yuca for fries. I would not suggest ? The yuca needs seasoning.
Never had anything but a great meal here.
