This is a charming little spot with good food - nothing fancy like you will get in Blowing Rock, Boone, or Banner Elk, but if you don't want to drive into those places (and/or fight the crowds) this is a great option. We got the skillet cornbread with honey for an appetizer and it was yummy. Husband got the grilled trout which was very good and I got the crab cakes - also very good. We shared the ooey gooey cake with ice cream for dessert and enjoyed it. Service was great - our server was friendly and prompt. One thing we didn't know before we went was that they don't serve any alcohol but you can bring your own.

The food here is pretty awesome lunch or dinner. I usually will get their blackened salmon. But I have had a great Trout Burger for lunch and their Chicken and Waffles was pretty good too. The vegetable sides are cooked to perfection.

I don't usually write reviews, but this place 100% deserves one. I am extraordinarily picky with fish, and its not usually something I eat. We came because my husband wanted to come here and try their locally caught smoked trout. I had their fried catfish and asked for a side of fried shrimp. I was blown away at how delicious and well cooked/seasoned everything was. The waitress was also amazing and thoroughly answered all of our questions. This place is absolutely amazing!

My husband & I stopped at The Tin Trout on a whim & we’re beyond glad we did. Now my new favorite restaurant, The Tin Trout boasts a varied menu that was not overwhelming. The cup of pickles on each table was both sweet & tangy. The pimento cheese appetizer with smoked onions & saltine crackers had me wanting to scrape every last bit from the bowl. My husband enjoy every last bite of the shrimp po’boy & loaded Mac & cheese he ordered while I thoroughly enjoyed my Tin Trout burger & homemade chips with ranch. The dessert menu looked delicious but we were so stuffed that we will save it for our next visit. Heidi, our server, was perfectly attentive & friendly. The 40 minute wait time was well worth every second & every bite. Looking forward to another visit soon!

Food was good. Got the fried flounder plate. The flounder was fresh, but prefer a coating on fried fish, no coating at all, also prefer standard homemade tartar sauce, food serviced with remoulade. Sauce good but not my preference.
Very positive was the excellent fried coconut shrimp. The best I have eaten. Also the cornbread skillet was good. The food we got was priced good. Overall experience very good and will go back, do recommend! Love the decorating inside the resturant.

Great place with fresh food! They start you off with a small dish of cucumber salad. We gad the trout dip appetizer, which was amazing! The grilled trout was delicious! Also, the smoked trout was amazing! The vegetables were done just right. Great flavor! Service was great. Don't miss this place! We will be back!

Absolutely wonderful place to dine. I frequently go here for lunch and for dinner and I have received wonderful food every time. For dinner, I would suggest arriving early as they do not take reservations for parties smaller than six. They also do not offer wine and beer but Linville Winery is just down the road and has a wonderful selection. Every time I visit The Tin Trout I always order the trout dip and then I choose off of the blackboard specials, or from the regular menu and, I always convince myself to choose a dessert because they are wonderful! The staff is super sweet and the atmosphere is great! I highly recommend people to try it out.
