Only had the chips, but they're probably some of the best I've had. Good ranch too. Atmosphere is great and comforting. Waitress was quick and nice. Overall great experience.

Alright guys, this was a cool stop for my family and I on vacation in North Wilkesboro. The Lost Wombat (which is objectively the most amazing name for a restaurant) was really good! Here are my takeaways…
1.) The Atmosphere: This truly was an enjoyable atmosphere to be in. It kinda did feel like I stepped into an Australian restaurant which I think every place should do based on the style of food they serve. Loved the family friendly vibes I got from it.
2.) The Service: Truly, the service was not terrible but the main reason why I am giving it a 3 Star is because our food took a while for it to come out. The waitress was super nice; however, they were not super busy. It just took approximately 45 minutes to an hour for our food to come out while there was not a lot of people in the restaurant.
3.) The Food: The food was actually great! I had gotten the Kangaroo burger which just adds to the weird and exotic burgers I’ve tried. The house sauce they had really added to the burger and fries. The rest of my family loved their Caesar salad, normal burgers, and chicken sandwiches.
Overall, I would give this place a 4 out of 5. The food and atmosphere were great. If they can improve on their wait time for the food this would easily be up close to a 5.

Very overrated I personally think. Been twice and after the last time, when my toddler received a raw burger, I won’t be returning. Giving a 2 star only because they did make it right & remake it.
Oh my goodness this place was amazing for something different. My husband and i got the pimento chese burger. It has a name but i forgot but it is pictures. We also got the grilled veggies...perfectly seasoned .they were great! Staff was friendly but they were understaffed and because if that it was alittle slow. Now the austrailan dessert was 100 percent different than anything i ever had but it was amazing as well. We arent from around here but im sure we will be back one day. Absolutly a must try kind of place!!

The shrimp tacos are the best I have EVERRRRR had!!! And they will go above and beyond to make sure you are happy. Also, on the weekends the upstairs bar is open and there is a jukebox and a pool table. And the bartender is 10/10. You walk up the steps outside to get to it.
The wings were some of the best I have ever had, and i am a wing 🍗 snob. Try the Nashville 🔥 you wont be disappointed!
Mick (owner) is a good dude. A truly Lost Wombat from Australia. Making Wilksboro great again! Investing in the local community!

Family ordered food. Food was fine, service was fine, but when the bill came, we were charged for drinks that were clearly included on the menu with the kids meals. According to the waitress, the manager said he' look at it, and we paid an extra $7.50 for drinks we never would have ordered. Never wanr to return, and honestly debating on returning to its sister business The Block, for more kids playtime. If this is the way business is conducted, I'm not sure they deserve any more of my money. I'd strongly urge you not to take your family here.

Have never posted a restaurant review until now. The shrimp tacos are top notch; the lime creama puts it over the top!!!!!

Plenty of empty tables yet we waited more than 50 minutes after ordering for our food, or lunch time was an hour and a half so we ended up just taking it back to work, so not a very good experience.

I was very pleased with the burgers and the prices
In my opinion it's the best burger in Wilkes county.
While traveling for vacation, I stopped in for lunch. I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff like I was a longtime friend. I ordered one of the burgers and fries (I did not get a picture for this review because I immediately started eating. Trust me though, it looked great). I was impressed with the large portion size and even more impressed with the taste and quality of the meal. The atmosphere, fantastic staff and exceptional food is a reason you need to stop in at The Lost Wombat.

This place has the potential to be amazing! The food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the shrimp tacos, salads and pub chips. Everything was fresh and they served abundant proportions. The interior decor needs some work to help it look more “Aussie,” attractive, fun and interesting. Great wait staff and really good menu options!
Ordered: shrimp tacos with pub chips and fish and chips.
Shrimp tacos and pub chips were the the clear winner, fish and chips weren't bad BUT the tacos and pub chips were amazing! We did add some Texas Pete for heat. Our server Krista was FABULOUS 🤩 and suggested the tacos as well as information on near by places we wanted to visit. We will definitely be back. We hope to see Krista again because she really MADE the experience! It was a bit warm inside, therefore the lower score on atmosphere. Sidenote: patio is pet friendly!
