I had a blast at John G's and met some of the coolest people, I waited in line over 4 hours and it was worth every minute, the food is absolutely amazing hands down the best smoked food I ever had in my life and I'm a grill master myself.
On a scale from 1-10 John G's is a 15!

We got in line at 10:00 and by the time it opened at 11:00, we were around the halfway point in line - and this was very much expected for a BBQ spot. What was not expected was that as of 12:00, we had not moved a single inch in that line, so we cut our losses and left. I absolutely hate leaving a negative review without eating the food, but there’s no reasonable way to expect a line to not move an inch in an hour - at this rate, I was concerned it would be another 3-4 hours until we turned the corner to head into the building. I’m sure the food is excellent and I will happily post another review once I eat here - but our experience of zero movement in an hour was far beyond anything reasonable, since we had no way of knowing if we’d ever actually order at that rate.

We took our family to John G’s today and waited in line for a few hours—but let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it. During our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Jon G and his wife Kelly separately. Both took the time to greet us warmly, answer questions, and make us feel genuinely welcome. That kind of hospitality is rare, and it set the tone for an unforgettable experience.

As a family that travels all over Texas and beyond in search of great BBQ—and who also competes and cooks BBQ ourselves on our Peavy and Jambo wood-burning pits—we know quality when we taste it. Jon G and Kelly do it right.

We ordered nearly everything on the menu just to try it all, and they did not disappoint. Every bite was phenomenal. We met some great people in line, had both breakfast and lunch, and left full, happy, and already planning our next visit.

John G’s is the real deal. Absolutely worth the wait.

Highly recommend showing up around 2:00-2:30 PM after the line has died down. We LOVED the Porky Brewster sandwich the most - it has cole slaw, Fritos, queso, bbq sauce, with brisket AND pulled pork. Wow!!! Def looking forward to the next time we can stop by!

My brother & I went this Sat. 8/16 . We drove about an hour to get to Jon G's. This experience was truly amazing. I've read many reviews & saw the social media hype. Jon Gs did not disappoint. The wait was to be expected so we prepared. Lawn chairs, water things to keep us occupied. The Bar B Que was by far the best I've had since relocating from GA. We ordered brisket & ribs, no sauce needed. The mac/ cheese & beans was a compliment to our meal.
They offered ice cold water & beer for free ( a plus) while waiting. I would definitely return to try the breakfast next time. Jon Gs is a hidden gem here in NC.

Long wait but well worth it. Some of the best BBQ you'll ever eat. Brisket, ribs, pulled pork, sausages, and other meats. Great sides too. Only open on Saturday and the line starts forming at 8 or earlier and doors open at 11. Free water and beer while you wait. Breakfast items available to purchase while waiting as well.

The best BBQ in NC hands down, and yes I've had most of the big names in the state! Highly recommend giving them a try, but get there early. Line forms fast but once they open it moves somewhat fast also. Ask for the Koala bears( kolachas) they are made fresh and are a delicious snack while waiting in line..

Waited three hours in the sun for a platter of BBQ! This was my first experience with Jon G's BBQ and I must say I found it to be very good bbq but definitely not worth a three hour wait in the sun.

The turkey is absolutely amazing and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes turkey! The brisket (their most talked about dish) was good but for me it lacked a bit of flavor (but the vinegar sauce adds all you need!)

I also ordered a brisket sandwich and put my coleslaw and pickles on it (which I definitely recommend trying!)

The sides were good but the Mac n Cheese is kinda dry and lacking in flavor.

The desserts were amazing tho, the bread pudding and the Oreo dirt desert are amazing!!

Definitely worth a try if you're curious and have an unlimited amount of time to spend waiting on a Saturday morning and afternoon.
