I’ve been coming to the roast office since it first opened. I’ve since moved out of state but every time I come home to visit it’s the first place I stop! The coffee is excellent, the staff is outgoing and friendly, the space is bright and inviting, and the food is amazing!! Highly recommend the southern bagel for vegetarians. Downtown Pinehurst wouldn’t be the same without the Roast Office. They are a pillar of the community!!

Such a cool coffee shop. The coffee was delicious, not overly sweet with a nice coffee flavor. The women working there were extremely friendly.

I have been coming here frequently for 3 years now and I can't believe I've never left a review...
The drinks are great, the southern BLT is perfection, orders always come out quick and are always correct, the staff is nice and the owner super kind!

Best place for coffee in Pinehurst.

Best place to go for Coffee even a Smoothie along with a quick bite to eat. Hard not to find something yummy to eat here. My go to for foods are the Bagels and Soups. Plus it is connected to a Used Book Store that has a great variety for all ages.

UNUSUAL ENCOUNTER: I frequent this place often with no problem. As a Pinehurst resident, I used to love this place. Everyone is so friendly and the coffee specialties are unmatched. The Tuft’s book selection is wonderful and it was my go-to spot to study in a relaxing environment. On Saturday, May 31st, approximately 0800, I decided to set-up my travel monitor that took up a small part of the standing coffee bar area. My bag with belongings were spread on the other side of the bar however, it was taking up a small space. I could easily move it if people did not have anywhere to sit.

I was approached and told that I need to “condense my work area when they get busy because I’m taking up space”. There was no “hello, how are you?” Or friendly approach. While I understand the sentiment behind the ask, especially as a someone who worked in food and service industry, this made me feel unwelcome to the point I could not finish my work there, I felt like a hinderance. The presumption made me feel uncomfortable, as if I were being disruptive to the environment which I would never would intend to do. There were plenty of open seats and areas and of course I would accommodate space for the friendly people of Pinehurst! People may ask why not just work at home? I enjoy doing my work outside of home because I have a toddler at home and LOVED this place.

It’s unfortunate because I truly did love this place, I would always recommend this to my friends and family who would visit but the interaction was off and will not be returning. I usually never post negative comments, especially for local businesses, but I hope in the future to understand that delivery and kindness can go a long way.

The photo on the left is my set-up. I also opted to stand because I enjoy working standing, so it free'd up an extra stool (there were plenty of empty ones already). The second picture on the right is the one on their Facebook that shows someone taking up more space than me, using a chair for all of his belongings. Roast! Sorry I took up so much space.
