Owner has changed, looked like it's a Pakistani eatery now. North Indian and Pakistani food are somewhat similar. However the Shahi paneer was just having ginger taste and so watery with typical orange sauce. The Dal was good. For the price it is not value for money.

Was there for the first time and will be my last visit. Aloo gobi's gravy tasted few days old, puri's dough was very thick, uneven and was filled with oil which we returned back to the kitchen. There was no salt dispenser but was served in a not so clean dipping sauce cup. Even dal makhni was not fresh. Highly disappointed with the experience at Chatpatay.Update : Thinking to call in for food inspection, my daughter and mom felt sick after coming back home from this place.

This is my favorite go to spot for my favorite butter chicken. I honestly only order here and my meal is consistently the same top quality. I’ve also had delicious paneer and the lamb curry. I’ve done in as well and the service was the same with polite people.

Very tasty and very fast on getting food. I prefer a little more spice where I came from KY the heat levels are 1-5 and I would get a 4. I’d recommend this place and we will be back.BMW Guy

Very disappointed. Very small portions. My butter chicken tasted like the tyson precooked fajita strips. My rice was cold...not warm...COLD. When I got there, I watched them make my order from the buffet. Not cooked to order. The front door looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in months and the restaurant was completely empty. I will never patron this location again and do advise you proceed with caution if you are looking to.

Update Sept 2022: unfortunately have to edit my 5 star review, this establishment has been sold and the food is unrecognizable. Very sad as the food was previously incredible, best Indian in Charlotte. Sigh. Guess we’ll be looking for a new spot :(We love this place and order take out frequently! Always fresh and delicious. Best Indian food in Charlotte by far. Please consider supporting a local small business and a really kind owner/operator!

Food used to be incredible, but clearly something recently changed in the kitchen. The chicken vindaloo was unrecognizable compared to what it was a few months ago. I know cuisines have variations based on the chefs but I liked the earlier food far more. This went from five stars to “won’t order again” in one visit. Sad to say it, but maybe some people like the menu changes!

Ashamed to say i have not had indian food in Charlotte for the past 7 years. After a long day of driving i decided to get take out from chatpatay. Staff was very friendly and patient while i decided what to order. After about w 15 minute wait and another 15 minute drive got home and food was still hot. The chicken korma curry was delicious. Chicken tender and had nice spice and flavor. Rice cooked well and the garlic naan was also soft and flavorful. I intend on trying more indian places in town but this place is definitely worth a return visit.

Parking: Plenty of parking

This place is absolutely amazing. Me and our coworkers ate a bunch and The cook and his family are great people and even took the time to come out and ask how everything was. Family owned and will definitely come back when back in Charlotte!

Ordered the butter chicken for the first time (excellent). Amazingly tender, flavor packed within the meat. Had alongside garlic naan (delish). Must get both. 5 stars for those items and friendliness of staff. Previous order I had chicken tikka (great) and lamb biriyani (good) with a veg samosa (good). The lamb wasn’t as tender as I like.

Our dine-in visit was excellent- food was freshly prepared and was delivered reasonably quickly. I recommend their chaats and non vegetarian dishes in particular. Even though they were short staffed, the owner took time to explain why some of the items were not available. Reminder - make sure to tip the staff well.

Not as good as it was when the name was Chaupati, most of the menu items are not available. Quantity per plate is not good. Gobhi Manchurian was really good out of 5 dishes we ordered. General vegetables are good but not the chaat items.

My husband and I had dinner here, and chose to dine inside. They were super busy with takeout orders and were short staffed, but we barely noticed. We were treated very well, the food came quickly, and it was so good! I especially loved the samosas…at a lot of places, they’re a bit greasy, but not here. And I think their prices are better than other restaurants I’ve been to. We’ll be back.

It was slow but the food was very good at a good price
