Oscar's Restaurant Reviews
when we come to NC we always eat here for lunch. I was very disappointed yesterday, they didn't have tartar sauce, no crab cakes, no chicken livers, no barbeque, it was numerous things they were out of. The coleslaw was old and the hushpuppies was cold and dry. I wonder what they had going on yesterday, that was my first worst experience, maybe the truck hadn't came in. I'm going to try again in a couple more weeks, hopefully they will be back on point, other than that my food...read full review
I should have known better than to give them yet another chance . Husband wanted chicken livers and he said they were good.
Filet Mignon beef tip were definitely not Filet Mignon. Tough as leather. Baked potato was brown all through as if been in oven all day. Cabbage was brown and mushy. Good food. Down home atmosphere and some of the sweetest waitresses and hostesses, cooks and employees in town. Thank you Dunlow family for preserving this timeless icon restaurant and restoring her too. 👌🏼

Oscar's Restaurant is a great diner with a clean environment and friendly staff. The menu features "home cooking" options, including sandwiches, salads, and comfort food dishes like hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, fried okra, and fried gizzard. The restaurant also offers homemade dressings and a variety of sides, including cheesy potatoes, onion rings, and succotash. They can accommodate dietary restrictions and offer refills on unsweetened iced tea. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making Oscar's a good spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, especially for travelers along I-95. Customers appreciate the down-home feel, friendly servers, and the effort to keep the place a timeless icon. However, recent visits have highlighted some issues with availability and food quality, such as cold hushpuppies, old coleslaw, and tough beef tips. Despite this, the restaurant remains a favorite for many, with some praising the good food and friendly service, though others hope for improvements. Overall, Oscar's continues to be a notable place to enjoy hearty meals in a cozy setting.
