Two Stars – Disappointing Visit to Smithfield’s Chicken in Rockingham

I went through the drive-thru, and the speaker system was clearly not working properly. The employee asked me to repeat my order, then told me to just drive around to the window because he still couldn’t hear me. That kind of defeats the purpose of a drive-thru.

I ordered the shrimp for $13.99, and let me tell you—it’s absolutely not worth that price. The portion was shockingly small, just a handful of tiny shrimp. Honestly, it felt more like a $5.99 item.

To make things worse, I had asked for tartar sauce and didn’t receive any in my bag. I had to drive back around, and the same issue happened again repeating myself at the speaker before being told to come to the window just to ask for tartar sauce.

The staff was friendly though.

The food was underwhelming, and the whole experience was frustrating. Definitely not what I expected for the price.

Great staff, always clean, very consistent food. And by consistent, I mean excellent. Their fried chicken and tenders are second to none, and the barbecue is great as well.

The only thing I have a problem with is the banana pudding. As far as banana pudding goes, it's horrible, they need to make it fresh with bananas instead of just pudding with vanilla wafers on top. That's just gross.

Anyplace with tea that good should carry real lemons for southern tea! Personal preference.

Service was fast and super friendly. BBQ pork plate a bit bland for my taste but I like pit fired smoked bbq better than whatever this is. Corn fritters were excellent.

Experienced terrible customer service during my latest visit. Walked in to manger cussing at employees and after ordering our food we were told it would be 15 minutes on chicken so after getting our order chicken was hot but our shrimp was COLD, shift manager was extremely rude and unapologetic. We will not be returning

Fast and friendly! The staff is so attentive, and our food was ready literally 30 seconds after we placed our order. The BBQ, of course, was fire.🔥 😎

Ordered French fries and apparently the cashier didn’t ring them up, which I didn’t realize at the time. When food came to the table, my fries were missing……when I asked about them it was more or less insinuated that I was trying to get something for nothing. The fries weren’t the problem, the attitude was.

It's a restaurant that will surprise you. You order then seat down and they will bring you your food. The chicken tenders are super tender and the baked beans are amazing. I don't even like baked beans. The sweet tea also a must get.

The service is amazing. Whenever we go, it is clean and the employees are friendly and helpful. You won't be disappointed.

I’m giving 2 stars rather than 1 for consideration of the cashiers who tried. To begin the food has gone done hill: we ordered a large fry and was given a small, no sauces that we asked for, the chicken tenders that cost $25 for 10 were majority the spice of McDonald nuggets, tea was spoiled and our food was packed to go even though we ordered and sat in the dinning area-which we offered no plates. We had to get up and walk to the counter and wait 4 times!

I ordered a dark meat meal and this is what I get!! For $8.85, two tiny legs and cold hush puppies! This is unacceptable! Do better Smithfield’s!!

Sunday, 11 am, July 29..older blk woman obviously detests her own people. Very rude woman. Bad food. I will never waste my money at this place again. I wasn't even given any sauces for the dry food. The Potato Salad consisted mostly of mayonnaise. What's wrong with people/food service in Richmond County?
Smithfield or rather artificial intelligence only responds if customers leave favorable reviews. They never address problems. They obviously do not care about their customers!

My very first visit to this place was today and I have to say the problems began immediately. I came with my dad for the cruise in and we get in line. It's a long process despite only having 2 in front of us, my dad gets his order taken and the girl immediately walks away. I'm confused, I remain patient however. 5 minutes goes by, she's handing out orders or something? I finally hop in the other line behind 4 others. After 12 minutes I finally have my order taken. My dad has already eaten his food. This is my first experience at your restaurant, it's disjointed and awful, the food was a bbq sandwich with no damn bbq sauce? The fries didn't even have salt on them, my bun was soggy and the combo was $12. Just an awful experience from start to finish. I'll never eat here again even if it's free.
