Neptunes Kitchen and Dive Bar

I ordered a pound of crab legs for $40. They brought me two small clusters. I've ate crab legs many times in my life, I know the difference between a 1/2 and a pound. I asked the waitress if there was a mixup with the order and she said no that's what their pound is. The crab legs were overcooked, half of them were shriveled up when I cracked them open. The next night, I went to Good Winds down the road and ordered a pound. I received four very large clusters, perfectly cooked. Don't waste your money at Neptune's.

First the positives…
Nice waterfront location with outdoor seating. Decent amount of parking available. Hostess and wait/bar staff were super friendly and put forth effort.

Negatives…
We waited for ~45 minutes for a table (arrived 7p) which we expected. When seated we waited ~1.5 hours for food. When the food arrived just before closing time the fried oysters were squishy (even after sent back 1x), the fries were all cold, the tacos and burgers were cold and the cheesesteak sandwiches were cold and dry. Our waitress was communicative and apologetic. We learned the owner/manager WAS onsite but he never came over to apologize/assist. He got his food and was enjoying his meal while his patrons were left waiting or eating cold food.
Avoid this place unless you want a beer and view only.

Took 2 hours to get our food. Some of our food was very cold. Waitress was nice and apologetic. But it was ridiculous. Will not go back nor recommend this establishment.

Fantastic little spot. Mindy and her husband said I looked like their friend Andy. Must be a fine looking man! I'll be back!

We ordered food from Neptunes Kitchen last night. We really wanted to eat inside, but there Halloween decorations included numerous spiders which totally freak me out. There was no place in the restaurant that we could sit that there wasn't a spider. So, we ordered take out instead. When we went to pay, there was an automatic 20% gratuity on the bill. Please note: the definition of a gratuity is "A tip, also referred to as gratuity, is a discretionary, additional payment on top of a check total given as a token of gratitude for good service and great hospitality." A gratuity is my choice to give based on the service I have received. To be charged it automatically and at such an astronomical rate to just be handed my food is absolutely ridiculous! If they want to put a charge on take-out items, it should be referred to as a "service fee" or something like that. I will NOT go to Neptunes Kitchen And Dive Bar again and I suggest you don't either!!!!!

Food was good. My wife can not deal with spider decorations (Holloween is coming) and they are all over the place. It was too cold and windy outside (62°F, 28mph) so we had to do take our. They charged 20% gratuity. That is totally ridiculous, especially since it wasn't our plan! Won't be returning!!

Went there 9/27/24 (last Friday) with 4 of my sisters. Sat @ Table 7, Reasha M. was our server and we cashed out @ 8:41pm. Upon arriving back to VA. discovered that server charged THREE of our debit cards TWICE. My total of $55.07 TWICE, another card charged $40.34 TWICE and the 3rd total charged twice was reported to a bank and fraud charges are pending. Have tried several times to contact Neptune's. Either no answer, voice-mail stating to put in extension or message states mailbox is full. I will continue to try to contact them. Each of our banks informed us to contact merchant. I hope this is read and replied to immediately
by management.
EDIT: My apologies for my rant to owner Howard Adams. I was able to contact him directly last Wednesday. MAJOR computer glitch due to storm. Howard was most accommodating as well as apologetic. Although our refunds have not cleared with our banks in VA. and NY, Howard assured us they would within 3 to 5 days, I trust Howard's word after speaking with him. Honest mistake, technology can really mess things up @ times. I did not delete original post due to it may have already been read by people. Just wanted to clarify and we will be back to Neptune's our next visit. Great food and service! Thanks Howard for your attention in making this right👍

We eat here every time we visit Rodanthe... We have always had a good experience here. People are friendly and food is good.
