We ate at CRAB SHACK on March 28. Food was delicious and generous servings. Best seafood anywhere. We will be returning soon.👏👏

I’m sure it’s good but closed for the season.

The place seemed family friendly for old timers but I wasn't impressed with the food... the menu was difficult to read, the waitress was helping me pick something off of it after I told her I didn't want anything fried... I settled with the chicken burger thinking it'd be a legit peice of chicken and grilled *since she knew I didn't want fried* and I got 3 fried chicken tenders on a bun... the chicken tenders (which was the "burger") had no flavor or seasoning on it. It came with a side of fries which also had to seasoning on them.

My father in law ordered flounder which had no flavor
My husband got the steak and shrimp (came with rolls and sweet potatoes). He enjoyed the steak, but wasn't too impressed with the shrimp... he left the rolls and brought the sweet potatoes home that we both had the next night for dinner... they weren't bad

I guess the place has a required taste, but it wasn't mine.

I would not recommend this location. It is on the waterfront and it looks like a good mom and pop place, however, the quality of the food was not very good at all. My daughter ordered what was supposed to be crab legs which came out as a small bowl of crab meat which did appear to at least be chunks of crab meat and not little shredded pieces.

The crab meat was served in a small bowl of butter only and was full of little pieces of crab shell making it less than desirable to eat and also a $40 meal. My younger daughter had popcorn shrimp which was a generous amount of the shrimp but had a strange taste to them, not like a seafood taste but almost chemical flavored.

I personally had their lunch special which was a good value and I ordered the baby flounder and had it broiled and had green beans for the side. This meal was not bad and cost $12.99. However, some of the other lunch specials our party ate such as the fried baby flounder were not very good. My wife ordered clam chowder and it was probably the worst clam chowder we have ever had. It was mostly potatoes and was not flavorful at all.

The atmosphere was not bad, a lady that served our table was nice and gave us reasonable service with only some minor issues on our bill and a little bit of time waiting for silverware.

Parking: Free parking available but the parking lot is rough and unpaved, potholes throughout it. And the parking pileons are not all straight but there is ample parking

Absolutely amazing waterfront restaurant that makes you feel like family! They welcome every table with a smile your own basket of free hush puppies and pitcher of tea, water, or Pepsi as well. All the staff is attentive and great, and the food is stellar from fried, steamed, or their raw options for amazing seafood.

We ate at the crab shack this past Sunday. While we were on a mini vacation and break from the devastation of western north carolina. When our waitress greeted us with such friendly enthusiasm and asked where we were from, and what brought us to come visit the crab shack, we told her our story. She was filled with such kindness and compassion and went out of her way to give us the best experience we could have ever had. She took amazing care of us. And I am so sad to say that I never got her name. I believe she said her name was Chase. But my memory with names is so bad, I can't be sure. And you just can't imagine the quality of the food that we had ordered. It was pure heaven, especially the fried softshell crab. They also brought a basket of the most amazing Hush Puppies I had ever eaten, and she was sure to give us extra to take home with us. I wish I could tell you what they did for us.
And how their kindness and compassion meant the world to the both of us ❤️. I wear their T-shirt with pride and tell everybody that I meet about how amazing
This restaurant is. I don't believe you will find a better restaurant, staff and food. Anywhere. I would literally drive the 350 miles just to come see them. I must describe the food...

The batter that they used to fry the softshell crab, oysters, flounder and blue fish was so perfectly seasoned and
Light and airy, and so crisp that it almost seemed to melt in your mouth It was so delicate. It was so good It was almost as if I had angels dancing on my tongue. A pure divine explosion of taste. So Very Good!!!???✨️????

The service was wonderful. I had the red snapper, and it was amazing. The sides were delicious as well. My kids enjoyed the crab cakes and fried shrimp as well. The trout was a little too dry for my taste and the fried oysters were not my favorite... but I prefer steamed over fried when it comes to oysters so maybe that's just my taste. Definitely worth trying though as most the food was delicious and the service was great!
