We love the drive to get to this place. It's out of the way, but it's worth it. Prices are on the higher side, but the food is high quality. Wait times can be a little long, but getting there for an early lunch usually helps. The store always has local products for sale. Staff is always very friendly. We keep going back.

My wife and I are staying in town for the month for work and we were recommended the General Store by a local. This place is so great! Great beer selection, great food, and even better staff. We were making pizza one night at home and forgot to buy mozzarella, closest store was the General Store - they didn’t have any on the shelves so the nice man weighed out 1lb of mozz from the kitchen. He went out of his way to help me and I thank him so much. Will be back before we leave for more beer and Sandwiches!

I have never been impressed with the Saxapahaw General Store or the Eddy. I can make better food at home much cheaper. Skip the over priced food at the Saxapahaw General Store and the Eddy. Go to hwy 87. Turn left and go a few miles to the Mason Jar Cafe on the left. Food is good, reasonably priced, and wait for hot food is short. Well worth the few extra minutes if coming from hwy 54.

Food is great! Price is on the higher side. But they are suppose to be high grade or organic food. Everyone is very friendly but the food is great. They don't have regular fries thou ??

Just moved here from Chicago a week ago, I've been to this place every day, some times twice a day since I moved in.The food is AMAZING, the drink selection is enormous (alcohol and non alcoholic) the grocery store is great, I drool just thinking about the 20 bakery items I have already tried (each one better than the last, yum!), the staff is delightful and I'm so glad this is the closest store/restaurant to my new home out in the country. The proximity to other local shops and great views of the river make this place a prime location too. Love it.

Always stop by the General Store when in Saxapahaw. Great selection of groceries, beer, wine, and community spirit! Indoor tables as well as pet-friendly outdoor seating. If you get there between 4 & 5 when the kitchen is closed, ask for the charcuterie plate or pick your own assortment of goodies.

I work at the Eddy Pub right near the general store and I love our food there but when it comes to Pizza I will always go to the general store one because it's delicious until because I don't want to go town. It's a great little restaurant and I would definitely suggest that you try it.?Parking: Since it is a nice little popular spot finding parking can be difficult at times but it's certainly worth the wait.Kid-friendliness: There's a local school right next to the restaurant so kids come and go all the time whether it's to buy lunch hang out with friends or to just come in and buy something nice

A real gem, part local grocery and aundriea, part really interesting and delicious menu. You could eat in, take out, and weather permitting al fresco right out the front.

Lamb burger patty was frozen. Cooked/burnt on the outside. Raw on the inside. The sauce was watery and thin. It is sad that the place is going downhill and no one cares. The burger patty and the bun is small and more like a slider. That’s not my complaint, but if I was running this place I would not sell a slider and call,it a burger.I used to drive 30 miles to go to this place before. Don’t think I would do that anymore.

One of my favorite restaurants is also a gas station. How about that?! If you've never visited this spot put it in your calendar right now. I had meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and steamed broccoli and every bite was magnificent. So many things made from local ingredients when they can and after your meal peruse around at the local butcher or even have a cocktail or coffee just around the corner. Don't be in a hurry because it can take quite a while to get your food but use that time to have a look around.

When this place first opened it was FANTASTIC. The burgers were the best I've ever had. But, sadly, those days are past. I think the owner has simply checked out (never see him there anymore). The burgers are now teeny-tiny - more of a slider than a burger. If you want to serve sliders, charge slider prices - the price is crazy for the tiny amount of burger. Flavors that used to be layered and nuanced are now muddled and confusing. The staff are too busy being cool to be helpful. And do not be fooled by the attractive looking cakes. They are terrible. And the duck fat fries.... soggy and tasteless... it's criminal, really, to so bung up something so essentially scrumptious as potatoes fried in duck fat. It's a real shame - used to be worth a 40 minute drive to go there. No longer.

This is a hard one. The location is super neat. The actual store is kind of fun. Where it falls apart is the food. It wasn't bad, ok actually. What makes it hard is the cost. For what you pay, it actually is quit disappointing. For a buss your own table, lunch should been more memorable than it was for the price. Either the food has to improve, or the price more reflects what you get. Wont be doing again until something gets fixed.

Upon arrival, the place smelt yummy and my son and I looked forward to our sandwiches. Per ordering food, the cashier was probably one of the most blah, yet rude person I’ve encountered. I politely asked if we could order our food to-go. She paused, and looked at me like I was dumb and said, ya. I ordered, paid and stood for about 20 minutes for food. While waiting I noticed the woman had an eye rolling problem. So much she could’ve won most eye rolls in 20 minutes. Couldn’t stay off her phone, guests would speak with her and she couldn’t get off her device. Once our food came in the window- (I called it) - it was NOT boxed to-go. When handed the boxes I had to tell the guy, maybe a manager, to have a nice day. This place is not somewhere you go to have a pleasant experience or kind service. Never coming back. Woman was a red head with freckles.
