The pulled pork was the perfect blend of tender and juicy…with just the right amount of smoked flavor. The BBQ sauce was excellent, but the sweet potato fries! The sweet potato fries were the BEST I’ve ever had!

The Embers is a great place to find lunch in Southern Pines. The atmosphere is unpretentious and casual. The bathroom for everyone is located to the left of the order counter, which is a little awkward, but they are maximizing the use of their space. The hostess was friendly and patient in taking our orders. The prices are reasonable for the generous portions.I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. My companion ordered the brisket sandwich and regular fries. The chicken was pleasantly enhanced with a slightly sweet barbecue sauce and Cole slaw. The sweet potato fries were freshly prepared, but they lacked the savory seasoning that I expected. My companion liked the flavor of the brisket, but she found it to be too populated with bits of fat. Some may prefer the extra flavor provided with the juicy bits, but texture is also important. The fries were crisp and savory. We liked the food well enough to return soon, but brisket will not be one of our choices.

Overall,a great experience. The chopped brisket is on point with just the right amount of bark. The ribs were moist and tender. Really good BBQ done very well.

It's mostly take away for us. But they do have tables to eat at. People are so friendly and helpful. Food is great. Love the pulled pork, ribs and brisket. Fresh cole slaw and my husband loves the potato salad.

Pork does not have a lot of flavor)seasoning. It almost taste more like roast pork than smoked. Also, the Cole slaw is subpar and the fries were over seasoned. If they seasoned the pork like the fries and smoked it more, it might be alright.

In on a Saturday at 3 for an early dinner.33 miles, one way, to check them out.Not busy.Order at counter and they will bring your order.Menu is a big board behind the register.ORDERED:1/2 rack of Saint Louis cut pork ribs. $13.49Came with 1 side (baked beans) and a small corn bread.Ribs came out of a warmer and were dry and small. Also, NOT HOT but just warm. Beans were OK.Iced Tea (serve your self) $2.10 with refills.I wanted to try their brisket. Got 1/2lb to go $11.50They said it was CHOPPED but it was cut into CUBES.Flat and point together and sauced.Things were OK but tooooo far to go back.Parking: One Way Street. OK to park on Both Sides

Stopped and bought a 1/2 lb of brisket. Really disappointed! Never been served brisket cut into small chunks and apparently covered in some sauce. Little to no flavor and some pieces were gristly. No thanks!
