I got a to go meal and it was absolutely delicious. Paired well with my beer at southern pines growler. Wait staff were pleasant and food was great!

We loved our lunch at this gem of a restaurant in Southern Pines! Our server suggested the best seller Vegetarian sandwich on focaccia bread. It was nice and crisp. The pesto and avocado and tomatoes were the perfect blend. It was delicious! The couple sitting next to us saw my sandwich and said, I’ll have what she’s having! And they both ordered the veggie sandwich. (You can also add your own protein. But it is fantastic without meat!)
Hub got the cup of Italian sausage soup and the Greek salad and he said his meal was so fresh and very good!
The server said all the bread is baked in the restaurant, fresh every day they are opened.

We came across this place while looking for a spot to eat, and this place doesn't disappoint. I had the very delicious zucchini soup and roast beef and brie sandwich.
All was exceptional, and i highly suggest if you're looking for a lunch spot to go here.

First Visit - Not a great experience for older mom-daughter lunch. All the sandwiches are in the price range of $14.95 with the only choice for the side is FF or greens. I am accustomed to places that offer a cup of soup as a side choice, but not here. It’s an extra $5.99. That was my biggest disappointment as I did not want FF or greens. The Chicken Napa sandwich on in-house Tuscan bread was OK but hard to eat with the crusty outside. I think the upcharge for soup as a side is outrageous and the sandwiches are a bit pricey as well. The food was not note worthy and prices too much for lunch menu with limited choice of sides. I don’t recommend and do not plan to return.

Usually Sweet Basil is my go to lunch spot in Southern Pines. I’ve had longer wait times, but am at least addressed by staff and had my order taken. I brought a new customer in today after talking up how good the sandwiches were all day. We were told to pick a table, which we did. After ten minutes of sitting there waiting (in view of the hostess area), the wait staff passing us multiple times, we still had not had even our drink order taken. Unfortunately, we walked out and went to another establishment in the area for lunch. No one spoke to us on the way out or tried at the time to take our order or apologize for the delay. There were multiple tables still open, and it did not seem as if the kitchen was backed up for any reason. The staff just stood at the hostess area talking or walked past us.
Sweet Basil's is my favorite cafe in Southern Pines. It's a sunny, happy spot yo enjoy great food and conversation with a friend. Don't miss the opportunity!

Sweet Basil, is a gem in downtown Southern Pines. Daily specials & tasty food, combine for a relaxing, & delicious meal. Their soups are excellent & sandwiches equally wonderful. Great to meet up w/friends & introduce out of town guests to a friendly, quaint local restaurant. Everyone should try it!

We came in for the first time today and was very excited to try this place out. After being seated we waited for 20 minutes and no one had even taken our drink order. After seeing 2 guys come in after us and were immediately waited on we decided to leave. The staff just said bye as we left.
We sat outside in the courtyard and enjoyed a lovely lunch with our dog. Food was delicious with very generous portions.

Great food, terrible hours. If you work 9to5 you'll never know how good the food is. Shame.

I ate at this establishment in the past and enjoyed every moment of it down to the food. I don’t usually leave reviews but it took everything in me to not walk in and say something. A friend of mine and I went on an adventure today with our kids. We decided to stop in and grab lunch but having 9 people total is kind of obnoxious and of course there would be some kind of wait which is understandable for someone who has worked in food service for 15+ years. Not to mention the other adult is a manager at a local bar. I left my number and name for an expected 15/20 minute wait. An hour later and after we found food for the kids at an awesome bbq joint down the street they finally touched base. I get it, we were looking quite raggedy beings it was our day off out of the many few we actually get but we definitely felt judged. I am glad our money went elsewhere. Don’t forget Jesus would tip 110%.
