Kind of weird atmosphere, not really family-friendly, lots of silly plaques on the wall. Amber the waitress is great, and the food is above average. But for the price, the servings are skimpy. I ordered the Friday seafood special, and only got four shrimp and a pretty small crab cake. Cannot fully recommend.

The place was interesting. We went exploring and came across this place. There were not a lot of food options outside of Michael's. The food was pretty good.

Really disappointing. Have eaten here on the past and tonight it was beyond a bummer.
Shrimp and Grits came out lukewarm, seasoning would rival nursing home food.
My husbands fries were cold and the staff pretty much were talking loudly in the back and doing whatever. We were the only diners for an early dinner 4ish. Nit sure where the disconnect was but I really hate such a historical good place was so disappointing. $58 dollar meal not including tip and I wish I had just grabbed something at home.

Got the hamburger steak, and the fried house mozzarella as an appetizer, and it was all fantastic! Nice folks, too. Hopefully I can come back sometime and try more of the menu.

We stopped at this place based on reviews. At first I was hesitated as place looked outdated but we were hungry and decide to stay. I am glad we did. We ordered mozzarella appetizer, some chicken sandwiches and hamburgers plus peach cublet. Food was fresh and tasty. Server Amy was nice as well. So, don't get scared away by the look of this place.

Michael's Showside Grill - A Hidden Gem
The phrase 'hidden gem' is used far too often in my opinion, but it is the perfect label for Showside. This somewhat quirky downtown Spring Hope restaurant is often overlooked, but it happens to serve up a lot of really good eats. Its multifarious decor is a veritable mini-museum of bygone artifacts. The menu is wide-ranging and includes a surprisingly large variety of apps, salads, sandwiches, burgers, entrees and deserts (all homemade and scrumptious). Portions are moderate (no monstrous mounds of fries or coleslaw here), but sufficient.
Some of our favorite items include:
Pecan Encrusted Sea Scallops ($26) - The four very large fried Scallops were juicy and luscious - definitely the star of the show. The accompanying Coleslaw was fresh and the lightly sautéed Zucchini and Crookneck Squash done to perfection.
The Daily Special Sammy ($17) - A lightly fried jumbo soft-shelled crab, topped with a house-made 'crabby sauce' on grilled Texas toast (includes one side - we chose sweet potato fries - very good).
Hamburger Steak ($15) - The half-pound of Angus beef taste a lot like real steak and was lightly covered with a rich pepper, onion and mushroom gravy. The Hoop Cheese Grits were flavorful, but a little runny, and I would have liked a bigger serving. Crunchy coleslaw and hushpuppies rounded out the meal.
Pumpkin Pecan Mousse Pie ($8.75) - An unbelievably luscious concoction that literally melts in your mouth . I'm not big on deserts, but will gladly make an exception for this one.
We also tried the Sweet N Spicy Pork Riblets ($17) - The Honey Mustard drizzle was spicy and distinctive and the fried Brussel Sprouts crispy and well-cooked. The Riblets were tender, but somewhat dry, and lacked that succulent goodness I was expecting (perhaps my expectations were a little too high). Overall a good dish, but I recommend trying some of the other offerings first.
The Cigar Box Old Vine Pinot Noir ($23) went well with both the Riblets and Scallops.
Some of the intriguing dishes we look forward to trying on future visits include: Honey Pecan Catfish ($21), B's "Key West" Cuban Sandwich ($14), Ghost Pepper Burger ($13) and Lump Crab and Pit Ham (*) Pasta ($23)
(*) Whole ham that has been cut apart and the bone and some of the fat trimmed away from the inside before smoking.

Recently tried this place and absolutely fell in love! The food is delicious and the wait staff are prompt! Fast and friendly service with great attitudes!
Kid-friendliness: I bring my daughter (5) in all the time. They have a good kids menu and she enjoys it.
Wheelchair accessibility: Has a ramp directly in front of the door. Spacious tables with plenty of room to move around.
